The View, General Hospital, GMA3: What You Need to Know, ABC

EXCLUSIVE: Averaging 1.474 million viewers during the week of February 10-14, 2025, ABC’s “GMA3: What You Need to Know” was up an impressive +37% week-to-week among Women 25-54 viewers (181,000 vs. 132,000) and up +53% among Women 18-49 viewers (141,000 vs. 92,000), marking the show’s strongest performance among Women 18-49 in particular since the week of July 17-21, 2023.

“GMA3” nearly tied its lead-out, “General Hospital,” in both key sales demographics and would have topped it had the series not seen week-to-week growth of its own, with the daytime drama soap opera gaining +0.03 among Women 18-49 (0.22 rating vs. 0.19 rating) and +0.02 among Women 25-54 (0.32 rating vs. 0.30 rating) compared to the week of February 3-7, 2025.

Compared to its performance during the same week last year, “GMA3” was up among Women 18-49 (0.21 rating vs. 0.16 rating) and Women 25-54 (0.29 rating vs. 0.27 rating). Similarly, “General Hospital” was up year-to-year among Women 18-49 (0.22 vs. 0.20 rating).

“The Young and the Restless” continued to lead the pack among soaps with a 0.28 rating in Women 18-49 and a 0.46 rating in Women 25-54, the former of which saw week-to-week gains of +0.02 in rating. “The Bold and the Beautiful” was up a bit week-to-week, gaining +0.01 among Women 18-49 (0.25 rating vs. 0.24 rating), and steady with its year ago performance.

“TODAY 3rd Hour,” “NBC News Daily” and “The View” saw week-to-week and year-to-year gains among both demos.

Either ABC really does not care, or they're purposefully trying to get everyone to abandon General Hospital at this point.

Considering that the show had a noticeable ratings drop last year after making very minimal changes that amounted to canning FOFs, longer scenes and "a few characters think Sonny is bad...for a month," ABC may think people will move on even more with extra changes.

Looking at the ratings year on year it seems GH actually went up in a key demo, so maybe ABC figures that's alright? I don't know.

I wonder if that exec who wanted to have soulless GMA clones replace GH is still working at ABC.

Nate Varni? 😈

Thanks. So he may get the ghoulish soap free future he wants.

What exactly caused a surge for these shows anyway? They always seem interchangeable to me.

Oops, actually GH went up in both demos.

I wonder if ABC would cancel GH for more GMA.

GMA had bigger jumps than GH.

It would be very short-sighted but I wouldn't be shocked.

GH does very well on Hulu so I could see a full move to Hulu instead of canceling

All soaps increased in the women 18-49 demographic, but decreased in the women 25-49 demographic..

Thanks @Errol!!

Isn’t that a good thing when the younger crowd watched that Show more?
