Concluding its 15-season run last month, CBS’ “The Talk” averaged 1.319 million viewers during the week of December 16-20, 2024, marking its most-watched week of the 2024-2025 television season.

According to figures released by Nielsen, the talk show’s final week averaged a mere 0.15 rating among Women 18-49, tying its second-lowest rating of the season. Additionally, among Women 18-49 viewers, “The Talk” averaged just 103,000 viewers in the key sales demographic, tying for its second-lowest performance of the season.

Among Women 25-54, “The Talk” pulled in a 0.23 rating, on par with its performance one week prior (week of December 9-13, 2024). Meanwhile, among Women 25-54 viewers, the show attracted its third smallest audience of the season with just 145,000 viewers falling within the demo.

Despite the low numbers among both demographics, “The Talk” still managed to outperform at least one other daytime broadcast program with “NBC News Daily” pulling in a 0.13 rating among Women 18-49 and a 0.21 rating among Women 25-54.

Although its performance during its final weeks on air was a far cry from the show’s earlier seasons, wherein it consistently gave “The View” a run for its ratings, “The Talk” still managed to outperform both “GMA3: What You Need to Know” and “NBC News Daily” among both Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 during the fourth quarter of 2024, even topping “NBC News Daily” among Total Viewers (1.240 million vs. 1.208 million). “GMA3: What You Need to Know” averaged 1.356 million viewers during the same period.

Averaging 152,000 viewers among Women 25-54 for the quarter, “The Talk” beat out “NBC News Daily” (146,000 viewers) and “GMA3: What You Need to Know” (147,000 viewers). Its lead among Women 18-49 viewers was much tighter as all three shows performed virtually on par with each other. “The Talk” pulled in 109,000 viewers in the demo while “GMA3” saw 108,000 viewers and “NBC News Daily” captured 105,000 viewers.

For the season, “The Talk” averaged 1.240 million viewers compared to 1.353 million for “GMA3” and 1.208 million for “NBC News Daily.”

As “The Talk” saw declining numbers throughout its 13th and 14th seasons, despite revamping its hosting lineup, CBS announced in April last year that it had decided to end the series, which replaced “As The World Turns” on the network’s lineup in 2010.

Hosted by Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, Sheryl Underwood, Jerry O’Connell and Natalie Morales, the 15th and final season of “The Talk” was executive produced by Robb Crabbe with Ianthe Jones serving as the show’s co-executive producer. The show was produced by CBS Television Studios.

The performance of “The Talk” during its final season is significant as it will help CBS determine the future success of its upcoming daytime drama series, “Beyond the Gates,” premiering Monday, February 24 at 2:00 p.m. ET/1:00 p.m. PT, with the first all-new network television soap opera to premiere in over 25 years taking over the timeslot previously held by “The Talk.”

I'm not surprised; the one thing I always appreciated about The Talk over The View was how consistent I felt the hosting lineup was. The moment Sara Gilbert & Aisha Tyler left, it began to just go downhill.

Frankly, I'm surprised the show lasted as long as it did.  It never was clear what the show was supposed to be about, or who it was supposed to be for.  ("A talk show for busy moms"?  Really, Sara?)

I agree!  I never watched the show consistently, but the hosts in this final seasons were the most likeable in all of daytime.

I'm hoping Whoopi, Joy, Anna and whoever else on The View really upset Trump soon and create so much controversy that ABC cancels that horrible show.  They caved to him already in that ridiculous defamation lawsuit.  I'm not MAGA, but cancelling The View to bring back One Life To Live and/or All My Children would make ABC great again!
