On Wednesday, the Writers Guild of America West (WGAW) and Writers Guild of America East (WGAE) announced nominations for achievement in screenwriting, television, streaming, news, radio/audio, and promotional writing for “The 2025 Annual Writers Guild Awards,” taking place on Saturday, February 15 at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles and the Edison Ballroom in New York City.

Nominated in the category of Daytime Drama this year are “Days of our Lives,” “General Hospital” and “The Young and the Restless.” As has been the case for several years, “The Bold and the Beautiful” did not submit itself for contention.

Representing “Days of our Lives” is head writer Ron Carlivati with writers Sonja Alarr, Kirk Doering, Christopher Dunn, Jamey Giddens, David Kreizman, Henry Newman, Ryan Quan, Dave Ryan and Katherine D. Schock.

Leading things at “General Hospital” are head writers Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten with writers Nigel Campbell, Ashley Cook, Emily Culliton, Suzanne Flynn, Charlotte Gibson, Lucky Gold, Kate Hall, Catherine LePard, Patrick Mulcahey, Dan O’Connor, Shannon Peace, Stacey Pulwer, Anne Schoettle, Scott Sickles and Micah Steinberg.

Returning as a nominee this year, “The Young and the Restless” is represented by head writer Amanda L. Beall with writers Susan Banks, Jeff Beldner, Marin Gazzaniga, Lindsay Harrison, Marla Kanelos, Rebecca McCarty, Madeleine Phillips and Dave Ryan.

Note: Due to his going fi-core status during the infamous 2007/2008 writers strike, Josh Griffith, head writer and executive producer of “The Young and the Restless,” is ineligible (see story) for a WGA nomination.

For the full list of nominees in other categories, visit www.wga.org or www.wgaeast.org.

I was just about to say that it's been a minute since they have all (well mostly) been in the ring so good to see.

Just a question but how long has Marla Kanelos been back at Y&R??? I’ve noticed her name a bit lately and it struck me as interesting because I haven’t seen her name in daytime for several years now.

Interesting that Patrick Mulcahey is listed, which means at least one of the submitted episodes falls within the dates he was co-HWing. But, then, also Dan O'Connor is listed so at least one of the submitted episodes is from before he & CVE were relieved of their HW duties.

I'm presuming (waiting for confirmation) that GH submitted Bobbie's funeral episode, which would make sense for Dan O'Connor's name to appear on the list. Meanwhile, Patrick's name is possibly there for Gregory's funeral.

Yes, I thought of Bobbie's funeral immediately. But, was Gregory's good enough? What about the ChaLynn wedding?

2024: the year of funerals. 😬

Writers are listed because they reached a certain number of episodes in the eligibility period, not because of which episodes were submitted.

Oh, thanks. Interesting.
