RON CARLIVATI TO END RUN IN THIRD PLACE ALL-TIME FOR "DAYS" HEAD WRITERS...

Ron Carlivati ends his "Days" run with Episode # 15101, airing April 22, marking his 1,969th episode as head writer, just 100 episodes shy of Jim Reilly's 2nd place of 2,069 episodes and 242 episodes shy of all-time leader William J. Bell at 2,211 episodes.

1. William J. Bell (2211 episodes)
2. James E. Reilly (2069 episodes)
3. Ron Carlivati (1969 episodes)

This is amazing when you think of the impact all three writers had on the show. Bill Bell's time on the show was pretty universally loved and JER while controversial, was an important part of turning the show around in the 90s. It's amazing to think Ron had roughly the same amount of time and didn't have nearly the impact either of those writers had.

I think about Bill Bell saying he thought the sex between Bill & Laura was consensual that awful night & I think OH SH*T ...

I think about JER & yes I get it about the ratings but still & all the time was so divisive &  polarizing.

Finally, left with Carlivati to think about how his tenure was just as notable but in totally a negative way.

The last thing I think is @JAS0N47how is it that we've thought all this time that his last day was the 23rd & now we learn it's really the 22nd? Can this be explained?

Stephanie Sloane's column said the new writers debut April 23, so that's the date I used. If I have to adjust the data and the date changes by a day, then at least it's an easy fix.

That looks like it was posted January 1. I was going with the more recent print edition of this article by Stephanie, which was just published, so looks like she has adjusted the date to April 23 as the new start date:

When I was updating the writer pages today, I see my math was bad by 1. So Carlivati did 1970 episodes as of today, 99 less than Reilly. If he does one more day tomorrow (since there have been conflicting dates of 4/22 and 4/23), then it will be 1971 episodes in total.

Here's the updated staff bios page with the new head writers: https://www.jason47.com/days/staffbios.html

    • Oh god I haven’t gotten to that episode yet, you have to be [!@#$%^&*].ing kidding me. I will say to my surprise, the Danny actor no longer bothers me. He has actually improved quite a bit.
    • I hear what you are saying, but I feel there is definitely an opportunity for improvement. If the set problem is to remain, then the whole focus has to change. Business has to take a back seat if there are no sets available to support story. As I have said before return to Jabot and have a number of characters working and interacting there. They seem super reluctant to do it but Victor needs to be a more supporting character.  Eric Braeden seems determined to carry on and that is of course admirable, but keeping Victor as this dominating force has been detrimental. Have a sweet reunion of Sharon and Nick and marry them off for good. Bring on Faith and I'd even have Adamson back as Noah at this point to support Nick/Sharon in a parenting role. They really need to bite the bullet and drop one of the following -Billy, Chelsea, Phyllis or make them recurring like Abby/Ashley with appearances or short term stories when appropriate. Free up some space for new or returning characters- Noah, Allie, Fen, Moses, even a recast Dylan.
    • Today was really boring. I get we needed to have Martin accepting Eva but man I needed some Leslie today. Anita being hung up on was intriguing though.
    • Yup, that's John Mahoney, a few months before the star-studded 1986 production of The House of Blue Leaves. Also, God bless TPTB for thinking that a circus storyline was gonna grab the hearts and attention of viewers.
    • I don't think we have. I suspect @Paul Raven could confirm it for sure.  ETA: off the top of my head, I counted 13 sets (counting the hotel room Doug/Vanessa made up in separate from the hotel room Ted is in unless it was refashioned).
    • Have we seen them? There’s a bit more variety than some of the other soaps but I feel like GH still has them beat. Right now everyone literally only eats at the country club or Orphy Genes. Jessica and Samantha look like twins.
    • Dante to Kristina: You turned out okay.

    • Am I misremembering or were they bragging about over 20 sets? Have we seen them all cause I feel like we haven’t and I’d like to see some more.
