I think Steve Burton has reached a point in his life where he is grateful to still be working in the industry at his age.  If TPTB were to come to him and say that Jason won't be a principal driver of story anymore - that, instead, he'll take more of a back seat to his now-adult kids - I think he'd be okay with that.  Not excited at the prospect of taking a more patriarchal role on the show, but content.  (Provided, they don't turn Jason into Steve Hardy, lol).

Agreed.  I think since Harris was very much a supporting player on Days Steve may have decided he actually liked that better than leading every story like he did on GH.  Plus, I think he got mostly positive feedback for his run on Days as well, so he might have took that to heart and realized people like a character with more vulnerability.

Of the big three in the 00’s, I liked Jason the most. I felt the show shifting from being Sonny centric to Jason centric after the Emily affair and I agreed with that shift. All of a sudden Sonny was allowed to be called out, and Jason was the only one that was “always right”. For me, something changed about a year before he left the first time, and I think his vaccine beliefs were a danger to his coworkers the second time. But as I said, he came back with the right kind of energy and is closer to the Jason that he used to be.

I think Steve just went into auto pilot on GH and was bored, but didn't want to be sidelined either.   I honestly think Steve just mellowed with age.  He seems content in his own personal life and with his place on the show.

But, of course, I don't know the man and am just guessing based on his performances and overall demeanor on the show.

I do think Steve is coming to work more this time. I just think the character is beyond played out. I can think of nothing interesting to do with him with anyone currently on canvas, and I have serious doubts he'd ever play a story with Jason's Q memories. So I'd either bring on someone new or downshift him til I could write him out.

In other news Gio looked insanely good in that top and if they don't let him shed his shirt two summers in a row we should all riot.

I thought the same thing. Gio looked hot, period. In his short time on the show, he's gone from cute kid to hot young man with a smokin' body. Time to get that shirt off.

GH aired uninterrupted here on the West Coast.  I can't be much help as I am more interested in the news, but I am sure it will air on Hulu tonight.  It doesn't seem to be a nationwide pre-emption.

I'm on the East coast. Only the last segment was pre-empted.

The rest of the show, after the preemption,

Lois & BLQ - more of the same, Brook Lynn is leaning toward confessing to Chase.

Dante & Chase - Dante thanks Chase, for today & in general, then tries to get Chase to talk. Chase says when he's ready to talk, he will.

Davis women - talk about shielding Scout & playing it by ear with Danny.

Jack - You're a good person.

Carly - I could show a boatload of people who would disagree.

Jack - They're just wrong.

...

Carly - You're one who has done so many things for me with nothing in it for you.

Jack - That's not true. There's always been something in it for me. I've been fighting it for a long while.

Carly - And now?

Jack - I'm all out of fight

Carly - That's funny. Me, too.

They kiss.

Thanks for the pre-emption update.

I did have to LOL at that "German set" for Carly and Brennan. It looked like an extension of the Q mansion patio. Oh, and Diane's latest bad wig was also a howl.

A Canadian fan put the whole show up on Dailymotion.

I wondered why they didn't do that in the summer. You know Gio outside practicing but it's sweltering hot ... you get the rest.

Also laughing at the German spa & hotel set. Leave Diane alone. Just kidding!

I was just thinking that now that I'm hitting those scenes in Germany.

I could never see them turn Jason all the way into a Steve Hardy, but I definitely could see him taking a backseat to his kids's drama. Assuming the writers would actually write for them again. 😎
