If anyone here cares about Ric & Ava or about neat ship names, Toni with the Tea has come up with one for them that I think is really quite good.

Avarice

You know that means greed!

Definitely better than Rava.

I'm sorry but a scene with Maurice Benard, who barely bothers to act, Stephen A. Smith, who cannot act, and Eva LaRue, who doesn't know why she's here but she needs the health insurance, is almost torturous.

It's bad. So bad. Time for Vanessa Marcil to agree to a six-month stint, (s/o @carolineg) to push Eva LaRue's Natalia out and to escort Maurice Benard's Sonny off-canvas, for good.

After a pretty solid few weeks, every episode was can't miss for me, Thursday's ep was a real STINKER. I should've been here praising those episodes but I was too busy enjoying them I guess, instead now I'm back to say the most recent ep stunk. Clunky dialogue, terrible flirtatious dialogue (Liz/Lucky, Sonny/Natalia, Cody/Molly, even Ric and Ava!), odd pacing.

As a #RAVA lover, I appreciate their banter. Rick Hearst & Maura West have insane chemistry. That kiss had been lingering since Christmastime, so I'm happy we [finally] got it. Hearst is West's best on-air chemistry since Michael Park.

Working Vanessa to death for a short run again 20 years after the first time they did it and drove her away isn't the answer. Give her a contract with the breaks and potential outs they lavish upon James Patrick Stuart and leave it at that. Easy. She can shore up a lot of this show on a long-term basis.

I am catching up since I'm finally back in L.A. but I will say at least LNL2 still have it while the story is pure boilerplate. I'd rather they were investigating literally anything more interesting. Same goes for Alexa as Lulu - the energy is there for her and it's great, but why sideline her at Deception and have her obsessing over that mutant?

They really need to wrap this Charlotte [!@#$%^&*] up asap. It’s doing the Lulu character absolutely no favors.

I think this is who Lulu has always been. Abrasive, obsessive. You could argue they are just writing her in service to their pets, but I think it does make sense with Lulu's history.  They at least they seem to have her in the right place with her relationships, if not her job (she isn't doing enough with Laura but I have never found any of Laura's relationships especially interesting, aside from the one with Lesley).

Lucky is the return where they truly seem to have no interest.

Maura West is an interesting actress for me because I loved her early work as Carly but after she came back, the show put the character through so much trash, I felt like she had to put on a shield to get through it. And the same has been true for Ava, which has led to a very artificial, performative sheen in a lot of her work. This hasn't been helped by a long string of flat-to-outright-bad leading men. I do think she works well with Rick Hearst. The long break from acting seemed to benefit Rick because while he was always a good performer, sometimes you could see all over his face how constipating the material he was given was (not just on GH, but through his soap career, maybe aside from getting to play a monster on Y&R). He doesn't look as pinched now and just has a real glow. If he stays, I hope that can last.

Thanks. Do you know who wrote 1/20  or was it pre-empted by inauguration?  Thanks

West had some hope with Tyler Christopher & Nick Stabile in their iterations of Nik Cassadine, but then got saddled with "he tries" Marcus Coloma for too long. Hearst is the first true potential pairing I feel like she's had in forever in daytime. And I am here for it.

So, I know tons of GH fans who ALL called it that today Tracy would announce an all points ban on Drew's presence in the presence of Wiley & Amelia - and so it happened!!!

Next Thursday,

Jan. 30th is the first day of February sweeps.

Finally they kissed!

Carly was very self aware today. I was impressed 😂

I was also impressed by Willow going head to head with Tracy. Willow seemed to have that spark back, the same spark that she had when she beat Nelle's ass. Too bad she can't have that spark in scenes with her trashy sister in law.

Sidwell just needs to go away. GH does not need another Cyrus.

It was nice not to hear her screaming, although, she should stick to destroying her own hotel room decor (since it's hideous). The hotel in Germany shows what a nice use of colour can do to the sets of GH.

If Cyrus can kill a few more people, whether via Digitalis or otherwise, I'll be happy. And Carlo Rota is someone I actually like a Jenz Sidwell. He's charismatic, even if the character is giving Cyrus canvas replacement. But giving him Wyndemere seems to be setting him up for a bit more story.

If he's sticking around, I hope they at least give him something to make him stand out from the rest of the temporary villains we've seen.

A romantic pairing (Lucy) seems to be what they're giving him. 😀

I'd rather Lucy not be wasted on another incredibly boring villain from this regime. Martin was bad enough.
