I've told you before I liked Sexis.  I have no problem with it.  I thought Alexis was too good for him at the time, but her taste in men is horrible so it tracks.  I just think it would be uncomfortable for both.  It would still be hotter than Chase/Brook Lynn though

I agree and I sensed the potential of a re-pairing when Alexis asked Sonny about losing a child, etc.

On Sonny's side it would be good for him.  I am tired of having to deal with a new romance every few years and Alexis really could use a love interest.  I could see a story where they unexpectedly grow close due to Kristina's troubles.  It's much less of a stretch than Sonny and Natalia working.

I don't need or want an actual serious re-pairing, but I do think the chemistry is still there and that they might as well have an autumnal fling (possibly secret) at this stage in their lives since nothing else they've done personally or romantically has worked for some time. It would be a transitional thing, like the idea I'd once had for exhausted single mom Liz to have a fling with younger stud Cody (before JJ returned).

Also agree in general about Carly, Jason & Danny. 

Molly & Ric delivered. He got what he wanted but she doesn't like it, so that's fair.

So kinda like what happened with Ava earlier this year with her and Sonny growing closer but with a different outcome?

Not really.  I have always felt Sonny actually cared for Alexis and respected her.  I don't think he loved her or anything and it's obviously not endgame, but they've mostly always maintained a decent friendship.  I just could just seem them finding comfort in one another.

Ava/Sonny should never grow close or be romantic without an ulterior motive on someone's part.  At best they tolerate one another at worst they would murder each other. 

I see the couples with two entirely different dynamics, but that's JMO.

Definitely.

I can see Sonny and Ava resuming fúcking if he spirals mentally again and she gets one over on him once more. He's done it before, he almost did it this year, he's stupid enough to do it again. Sonny and Alexis are different. He respects her as much as he respects any woman, he kind of knows she has his number which grates at him lol. They know there are no surprises with each other. It's comfortable.

Ava ultimately should use it as a way of gaining custody in someway of Avery (who I fully believe is likely being aged for 2025).
