IMO he is terribly miscast. He's just not a good actor. He isn't even mediocre. He's terrible.

I think he was great on OLTL. He didn’t do those weird facial impressions on OLTL as much as he does on DAYS!

but he’s not doing it on purpose. I saw him at Day of days and he did them there too. I think it’s personal thing. Like anxiety or a neurotic thing.

I heard that rumor but I didn’t hear anything certain.

But I would understand it if he felt that way; Philip’s last stint was not good

JPL should not be in the acting profession. I saw his work on oltl too and it wasn't very good.

No, it wasn't very good until the end. By then I had stopped caring about the story.

My issue with Philip is not the actor, but the characterization.

We need more contrasting male archetypes.  They can't all be middle-aged men with mommy-issues, no ambition, who are prone to substance abuse, and no defining characteristic.  At this point, EJ, Philip, Brady, Eric, and Alex are all the same.  And, the only thing that differentiates Sonny and Leo is that they're gay.

I'm not a Kyle Brandt fan, but at least the writing for Philip as a spoiled jock was a contrast to the more sensitive Shawn-D at the time.

At this point, any triangle these guys are put into is a toss-up as to who is the least worst catch.

True but if I remember correctly Jay’s Phillip became Ava’s lackey too in 2020 before it all came out to Victor!

I will never forget that scene with Xander-Phillip-Victor and Xander thinking he finally got the goods on him and Victor forgiving Phillip. 
 

But I do think they have something more in store for JPL’s Phillip. I bet he will try to backstab Vivian but ofc it’s Phillip. He will fail. They always wrote Phillip as a loser  wish he would finally be worthy and building the next Kiriakis generation
