Zenon jokes aside, this episode felt to me like the New/Old Writers thought the technique from Thursday's episode would work twice. And...NO.

It really did not; it broke up every single emotive piece and really made it rough to follow. Had it been me, all Sam related scenes from Thursday & Friday would have been in ONE episode (Thursday) when the non-Sam scenes from both days would have aired on Friday. The choice to break things up felt like an odd and wrong choice.

Dominic Z, Steve Burton, NLG, Genie Francis, Kristen V and Rocco’s actor did superb work Friday, just straight up broke my heart.

When Alexis grabbed Dante’s face and told him him how it all happened and Dante just bursts out crying when she mentions her and Sam discussing the engagement? Pure devastation. Him blaming himself to Sonny and then going to see the body was heart breaking as well, I hope he gets an Emmy push this year he’s been the standout actor on the show IMO.

Jason telling Danny and Scout, Rocco expressing his guilt to Laura for being jealous in the past over not having his mom around, and Molly just being in a complete state of shock after Alexis told her and Kristina got me in my feels as well. Bravo to those actors.

Alexis being ice cold with Laura after she waltzed in assuming something happened to Lulu instead was good stuff and I hope they keep playing this resentment. I did find it weird they had Sonny and Laura joking around again prior to the death reveal after the months of cold beef but whatever. Guess nobody can hate Sonny anymore.

Loved Carly being Jason’s first call and her reaction of shock and acknowledgment of her and Sam’s history of beef rang true to character for me.

Now I never saw Drew and Sam as a couple but Cameron Mathison played all his scenes as if Carly had told him she got his BLT order wrong instead of the mother of his child being dead, what the actual hell man. His performance completely took me out of the emotion of the episode. Danny’s actor was solid til he started that inappropriate smirking he tends to do and Mansi did nothing for me with her usual theatric acting bag either.

I enjoyed the Zenon joke and I loved seeing Maxie and Spinelli parenting their kids, it added a different kind of heart to the episode and didn’t feel out of place to me at all. Gonna be heartbreaking watching Jason tell them Sam’s gone.

Holly and Robert were the only scenes I totally checked out of but other than that another great episode IMO.

Now, here, suddenly, oh no, disagree. To me, the breaks to other stories was a blessing. Why? Because if not for those little breaks I am afraid that the horror, the sudden unexpected death, the very heavy nature of the highly emotional, grief-riddled story would be too much. So to me the breaks were breaks from the unrelenting tension, sadness, shock & awe, yes, so I appreciated that they did this & I do think it was intentional on their part. So I had no problem in terms of momentum. Sorry that it was different for you. I get it. I can empathize with what you say.

They did it wrong. ;) If you go back to last month and Thursday's episode, it did a much better of that than I felt Friday did. But I can agree to disagree. :)

Well, when you get to this point, I have to say Thursday was best, Wednesday was next & that does leave Friday as last in terms of Win/Place/Show so to me all week was superb but I can agree on some days "doing it better" than other days.

Amen. lol. I'm not sure how it should have been structured though if they had to keep the stories. Because I think I would feel a way if there was no mention of Sam on Friday if stuff surrounding her was moved to Thursday. I think I would have liked the continued gradualness of people finding out on Friday, too. But I feel that had to do with the writing. Specifically the tone. Because we had other stories on Thursday that did not at all take away from the Sam stuff. Also, the scenes were actually allowed to breathe. Something I did not like about Friday. Almost like they were trying to force Sam's death into some kind of C story now that I think about it. The tone was just odd for the seriousness of a death.

Agree. When you have so many good episodes in one week, one does have to fall to last place. Overall, flaws aside, it really was a good week.

Unfortunately, choosing the end of October to be the exit was difficult... as it conflicts with Halloween, ultimately. And we're going to continue to get fall-out into this upcoming week. It's overall just messy. Again, the downside to block-shooting, over shooting episodes as pieces themselves.

But a good way sadly to start November Sweeps. ;)

I still hope she gets the Friday cliffhanger myself.

The show has been unrelentingly sad since January. Even the return of Lucky was sad because of the broken person he seems to be. Lulu waking up would turn things around.

Yes, but imagine what she's going to be waking up to!

- Her Dad is dead
- Her aunt is dead
- Her son is a teenager and taller than she is
- Her daughter is missing and on the run with Valentin
- The lady who saved her life was engaged to her ex, and is now dead
- The guy who put her in a coma is her uncle & he now prays for her & reads the Bible to her
- Her oldest brother is in prison.
- Her boat got blown up in Greenland.

Lol!  To everyone saying CW's Nina didn't appear 5 times last month-you are all absolutely correct.  I really thought she was in more episodes. She appeared 4 times.  At the same time Joss only appeared 4 times and I don't think the show is phasing her out.

The kid playing Rocco really sold the emotion in his scenes. The show would be wise to invest in him.

NLG broke my heart. Kristen Vaganos also really sold Molly’s shock. And Dom covered a lot of emotional ground in one episode and did it well.

This had to have been torture for Monaco to lie there while this all played out.

The show has a shallow core, but the actors really do bring their generic material to life when they give them something to play. I am happy that for the first time in years what matters is being played out by actual core characters.
