I don't think it's that at all. They heavily promoted him. Frank is just nickel and diming on guarantees and playing his classic inconsistent character/story shuffle as usual to keep the budget low. That leaves Lucky and half the cast perpetually in and out of limbo in unacceptable ways.

You're probably right, but even with Jason, where his return was also lousy, I felt like there was a little more effort made in promotion and some of the early reactions of people around him. Of course Mulcahey was there at that time, and gone now, but they just haven't made any effort at any drama with Lucky beyond a few days of him angsting over being a deadbeat.

I may be wishcasting, but I know Mulcahey inherited the Jason return when he came in (having to rewrite the planned return storyline that the network apparently rejected from CVE/O'Connor), and I suspect he believed he could make it and possibly a higher production mandate for a renewed Jason/Carly romance work. (I think they were committed to that when Steve came back, until they realized it was again a dud and Korte shifted to this Brennan nonsense.) After all, PM had written some of Steve's most famous and popular material in the '90s with both Kimberly and Sarah Brown; I can see him figuring he could make it happen if that's what they asked for. You saw hints of this in a few good scenes with Steve and Laura - talking to her about his tattoo, moving in above Bobbie's again - but you can't create romantic heat where there isn't any. There was no core there for the writing to uplift.

With Lucky's return the show feels possibly even more piecemeal storywise atm than before across the canvas. A sustained focus is what is necessary, but Frank doesn't do that.

I think Lucky/ Aiden is a dud. There's no father/son chemistry between the two. Aiden looks too old. JJ, in his performance, seems like he couldn't care less about Aiden; he doesn't come alive the way he does with Becky, Genie, or even with the new character Isaiah. Maybe they should make it that Lucky found out Aiden really wasn't his son, it pissed him off, and that's one of the reasons he's been away for so long?

I don't agree. JJ gave it his all with the Aiden scenes, as he generally always does. It was the overaged twunk in the role I found distracting, though the kid is a decent actor. I fear FV and ABC will become even more conservative with this show going forward, though.

Will someone die today? I only thought Holly was temporary, so it might be her. I am tired of Holly and don’t want to see her again.

I previously thought that Robert and Sasha were characters on the fence. Either one of them could die. Tristan Rogers needs to retire, so Robert might die. I don’t want to kill off Sasha for I am fond of her, but the writers are mean to her.

JJ’s return story felt very much like it was shoehorned into the show. Shot with no other actual GH actors until Jason and Anna arrived. Holly doesn’t count, she was also shoehorned in. Isaiah the same- with Lucky and then the hospital, disappearing for what felt like weeks, sharing scenes with an underutilized Jordan who was easy to plop into scenes due to not being used elsewhere.

I don’t know if this is the shitty FV shooting schedule, rewrites around KM’s exit, Jackson’s availability, or all of the above. He said he was relocating back for the show, maybe his family wasn’t there yet or he is still commuting. It’s glaring onscreen.

Oh maybe its her actual name and not a nickname. Ive known a few Sashas in real life myself

I mean that makes sense given Lucky has been a deadbeat. I wouldnt expect them to have any chemistry when they dont know each other, at least not really

I like the name.  I think I have known 3 Sasha's in my life and they were Alexandra or Alexander, but that's obviously not enough data to call it just a nickname I suppose.

Since Sasha clearly has lied about her last name and entire upbringing I thought there might be a different real name for her that she's hiding.

What's up with the Dex character? He now has a lisp in those scenes at the explosion with Anner. This guy has had something done since his headshot in the opening credits, but I can't decide what is different about him (because I don't like him). Is it the hair? His teeth? Some eyebrow filler? I just can't determine what's changed about him, then on Friday's show he has this weird lisp. Good grief. Don't like this useless character. Let's just hope they don't make him the son of some legacy character (like has been rumored forever). Sash-uh's parental revelation is enough for now.

    • I did some research and the story wrapped up with a caretaker responsible for Georgina's death who then  tried to do away with Laurie but a vision of Georgina spooked him and he fell to his death. So there was a supernatural element.
    • AI has it wrong. David was working as an aide at PV Hospital due to failing to save his brother's life and refusing to continue as a doctor. His true profession was revealed later. Edna had divorced him while he was in Vietnam and he had no reason to be in contact with her. He had no idea that he had a daughter.  Ruth was Ruth Martin, she was still married to Joe, not Jeff. He was not deceiving Ruth as he believed that Edna was his ex. The poisoning story happened late in his run and probably introduced when they knew Gleason was leaving. AI's interpretation of him as conniving seems to based on that short lived poisoning story and other misinformation. For most of 76 he was involved in the Ruth/Joe triangle to the point where Ruth was ready to divorce Joe and leave town. Joe had to have surgery, David operated and Ruth suddenly realized she wanted to stay with Joe despite all the problems they'd been happening. David then got involved with Christina with Jeff and then Edna as complications. And he arrived late 75 not 76.
    • Interesting that they started going into a supernatural direction with ghosts - I don't think they really did that before? I wonder if it was a response to getting put so late in the afternoon and I guess trying to appeal to that former Dark Shadows audience?
    • That makes sense then! Is there a place where you can read more Daytime Serial Newsletters? They sound very informative. Thank you

    • Yep. Access to the Vault works fine but upon downloading attempts an error message pops up.   Maybe it is just a temporary glitch.

    • I'm pretty sure this ep is  from Dec 73 From the Daytime Serial Newsletter Ian and Valerie Northcote are deeply concerned over Laurie's  life being increasingly dominated by hallucinations and fantasies about Georgina, the former owner of the house the Reddins recently bought and are now living in. Doreen Post (Linda Purl) was involved in that story .Perhaps she was going to be revealed as Georgina's daughter? Wonder how that story evolved and whether it was wrapped up before cancellation? and thanks to @skylark

    • Thank u so much! I love that show and the more I see of it the more I want to find more of it even if it’s just in script form. But that house and especially the room looked like Victoria Winters room from dark shadows lol  this was great find! Thanks
