Members titan1978
Sonny with at least a 6 month stint in jail (across two sweeps) where he tries to mob with a new crew there, would at least be something we haven’t seen from him. We all know he will eventually get released. But even when out, he has a new lieutenant that also gets released that was his Jason on the inside. And this guy is very ambitious. And because Jason now has his kids from Sam full time, he doesn’t want to repeat what happened with Michael. And the new guy spends a year dismantling Sonny’s empire and repositioning it for himself. My dream come true would be Sonny is distracted by Brenda’s return. If not her another woman would do. Sonny is cockier than ever because the five families were decimated. If Sonny has to be here then let’s use him for something he hasn’t done before. Edited October 12, 2024 by titan1978
Members Vee
My angle on undoing Sonny has always been to let the Scorpios put together an airtight, Wire-esque case which ultimately goes sideways for mob war reasons - maybe Sonny and Ava finally annihilating each other with more family casualties (though I'd probably let Ava end up insulated by the Cassadine empire or something). Then after a brief stint in prison which goes equally awry, Sonny ends up destitute and the forgotten man on the streets of not only PC but adjacent soap towns (like the haunted burg of Corinth?) for six months or more, unmedicated and pushing a cart or something. Maurice of course gets a long break and/or lighter schedule during this period, the Tony Geary vacation. A schedule which would probably continue down the road, along with block taping which is how they used to cover TG's vacations. You build him back to civilization after that as part of other story he gets woven into as a bum who stumbles upon key drama, and he eventually ascends back to a white collar well-to-do persona (for Brenda, etc.) but he's never the same again. That is pretty brilliant. Edited October 12, 2024 by Vee
Members Taoboi
Well, that sounds just about right. I know when I get heated, my accent pops back out. And when I get REALLY angry, my Cali accent (and DUDE) pops out of my mouth.
Members Liberty City
Please register in order to view this content I feel you there with my thick Boston accent, haha. Lots of training in choir removed a lot of it, but when I'm pissed it comes out THICK!
Members Taoboi
FIXED. But I love ALL of this. There is so much potential in that. And if we HAVE to have the mob, it gives it fresh colors. Amen. Lol. EXACTLY. I know quite a few people from Boston so I know that accent gets THHHICK when they get angry.

Members Taoboi
I liked all this tea. It takes me back to when I was a ticket seller at a (now-gone) jazz supper club. I had no idea she was connected to him. I kindly disagree. Because while the Heather storyline was going on, there was plenty of nuances going on with it and it felt like all sides were being explored through Laura even though it was a horrible position to put the character of Laura in. And it had the potential of being a classic umbrella tale that really could have divided the town given who Heather had hurt vs those people who believe in second chances before these New/Old Writers decided to go and keep it as one person's vendetta (Portia) for someone as if she was a crazy woman when her daughter was the victim. Even Sonny's slow descent into madness had the potential for substance to it. It's just a shame MB becked at going there. So I feel there more than likely would have been layers to Lucky's return even with the same plot points. Because he's been gone for so long, why not play that time away, too? LMAO
Members DRW50
If they wanted him to genuinely go mad and this led to his exit, I might have been more interested, but I think they were just going to have it all end in "poor Sonny" and Ava six feet under. I think the idea of what you are saying with Heather would have been interesting, but I didn't think the story was trying to go that way (the only character even then who was allowed to object for more than a few minutes was Portia). Mulcahey may have tried more with Lucky and what he missed, but if Jason's return is any indication, I am not sure. I think Lucky was just gone too long and Liz's kids are not important enough to the show for the story we might have had.
Members Taoboi
From what I've seen, it was part of the reason people took to BM when he was John Doe who was revealed to be Jason. Because as Jason BMJason did all the things that fans wanted Jason to do. He ditched Sonny and Carly. He finally embraced Monica and his Q ties. He got out of the business and started a business and a life with Sam. He was legit. Alas, but SB had to come back. Yeah, I've been liking the last few episodes I've seen, but I can't help but feel the same way to an extent. Especially about Jason who appears to be just standing there, blowing in the wind. All of that great set-up...giving fans some of what they been talking about with Jason FOR YEARS...only to abruptly have Jason/Sonny reconcile off-screen and back to normal on a Monday. I definitely think there would have been redemption for Sonny because there always is. I'm just not sure Ava would have been dead given she only knew of the messing with the meds and was not the one who really did it which was Valentin. But I was hoping they would let her be the femme fatale gray villainess going forward. But I guess soaps can't write for that anymore. I was hoping that the whole storyline was a way to not redeem Heather completely, but allow her to stay on the canvas IF they must have her as a more gray, maybe cunning character so they had a villain if they needed one. Because Heather had been nothing, but a 'wacka wacka funny look at me' character for far too long under this regime. Or that was the impression I got when PM was working with story. While Portia verbally objected, Laura had all kinds of pushback from just about everyone she talked to when she brought up Heather. And we saw her conflict on her face every time she talked to Heather. It just felt like it would have been expanded on if it had originally been dealt with then rather than what we are getting now. So I definitely feel it was a victim of the BTS drama...which I also feel Jason's return was a victim given the set-up. I would agree about Liz's kids, but again, the next generation were finally starting to get used back in March. So much that there might have been more substance to what's going on now...if Lucky's return was planned all along before PM's departure. But that's just me grasping at straws. All I wanted when he was announced as a writer and Laura became central for a minute was for her children to return...which is finally happening.
Members Vee
I think JJ's return has been pretty well-received from the general audience from what I've seen, it's the story/execution that has been found to be at best mediocre. No amount of irate Liason stan accounts trying to astroturf reaction against Lucky on Twitter has managed to alter the positivity towards the actor. It's one example where FV ignoring Twitter comes in handy for once. I don't think anything is going to change re: the Lucky/Liz trajectory, and I think the show is far better with him than without him.
Members Taoboi
I agree. I love that Laura's kids are coming home one by one. I am very worried about the 'how' now that Lucky is not a donor for her, but I am looking forward to Lulu waking up.
Members j swift
It could be said that just as GH was irresponsible by misinforming their audience during the surrogacy storyline, they are equally irresponsible in telling the liver donation story. Liver donation is less stringent in criteria than kidney, or other vital organs. And, the donor does not need to be a relative (although a deceased donor needs to have the liver transferred with 30 minutes of death). Arguably, by misleading their audience, and not pairing up with medical organizations who promote organ transfer donation, they could be scaring people from engaging in a benevolent cause. Or, worse, promoting the idea that organ donation is so restrictive that the average person should not be tested for a match. In the olden days, a story like this would be used to promote people to remember to check the box for organ donation on their ID, and be tested for donations if they qualify. Imagine if, rather than paying for silly billboards, fans got added to the vital organ donor list en masse; that would be powerful. Members carolineg
I mean, if people are truly considering donating their livers or going into surrogacy I would hope they'd do more research than just watching GH and taking a soap opera's word on it. I just wouldn't make life altering decisions on that basis. I suppose it would be nice if GH partnered with some organ donor organizations, but they didn't do anything with Willow's bone marrow transplant either.
Members j swift
But, you get my drift. There was a time when daytime felt a duty to inform their audience with socially relevant storylines. Now, it just filled with misinformation that could be easily corrected by a story editor with access to google.
Members Liberty City
But that's the thing: the art form of story-telling in daytime just is non-existent. No one takes the time to develop things; stories need to be turned out in record-time for some reason, and they cite "lack of time and budget," and I don't buy it. No one believes in the art form, and it's telling. And it's why English soaps excel, because they develop their stories, team up with organizations and research their stories, etc. They CARE about the story.
