https://deadline.com/2024/10/the-young-and-the-restless-rebuilt-newman-ranch-1236156590/

After watching daily in the early 1990s, I am now a part-time casual viewer at best.  Most recently, I tuned in for the Eve's sister story.

So, color me shocked to learn that Victor and Nikki haven't been living in their old house on the ranch!  I knew about the fire.  But, I thought those dinky sets were just due to the budget cuts and that is why they didn't look familiar.

I'm thrilled the old ranch is back.

It seems like Victor has rebuilt  the ranch elsewhere.

Hopefully it will be explained in the scripts. Perhaps he purchased or owned some nearby land and had the new ranch built there. And explain what will happen to the current house.

Otherwise Nikki might have noticed construction of a new house on the current property...

The SOD article implied that the ranch is so big that Nikki wouldn't have noticed the construction.  And that they are moving to the original site of the house, as the place where they are now is merely another home on the ranch that was redecorated for them after the fire in 2012.

So, mondays show. I think Diane is serious about this personality change. Tracy went to see her and she went on this big ramble about how she can't deny her wants anymore and no man has to ever choose between family and power. She brings up that Victor does horrible things but no one ever denies his love for his family. Victor then called her and wants to team up. She said yes, she wants payback and doesn't care who she hurts to make it happen before looking off Evilly.

Daniel got arrested and Phyllis doesn't want Christine to be his lawyer. She thinks Christine will tank Daniel's case because she hates her. Phyllis met with Michael and told him about Sharon and that she's going to prove that Sharon killed heather.

Nikki was visiting Jack and he revealed that Victor was Glissades secret investor and is grooming Kyle to get revenge on him.

Nikki was very mad and she confronted Victor. They got into a big screaming match about how Jack nearly got her killed. And Victor lying to her.

Phyllis wasn't happy Christine was Daniel's lawyer. She was screaming in Chances face and she told Phyllis to "Shut the hell up." Then, she accused Christine of sabotaging Daniel because she hates her. She said Christine is an "incompetent boob" and she should "Go back to being Danny's groupie throwing your panties on stage."

@Liberty City from the Deadline article, It doesn't sound like a remodel but a whole new structure.

As viewers will soon learn, Nikki’s husband Victor (Eric Braeden) made the decision to secretly rebuild their original home after it was burned down in 2012 by that crazy Sharon. Victor’s plan all along was to spring the completed house on his unsuspecting wife. (Apparently, the construction was easy to hide since the Newman ranch is so dang big).

This is why I asked about Aunt Jordan's cell.  Because it seems like the implication is that Victor and Nikki have been staying in another house on the ranch, that shares the same address because the ranch only has one address for the entire property.  So, was the cell under the old house (where Michael Scott was held), or under the new house?  I guess we'll never know.

I hope Nikki will be much more pleased by this reveal.

Imagine going from a penthouse to that pitiful place with no color and zero charm?

Although at this rate, for the next anniversary, Victor is going to have to build a replica of the Colonnade Room next to the barn for them to have a vow renewal.  Or, clone Miguel, so someone can help Nikki around the house.

    • I never liked Reva, either the first time around, or the second. My issue for the first go round was that Reva dominated the show, which was a shame because I didn't like the character.  Loud, insecure, narcissistic "look at me", "here I am, entertain me" individuals irritate me in real life.  It wouldn't have mattered to me who portrayed the character...Zimmer or someone else. Reva is a character inherently inimical to the idea of ensemble.   Post 1995, Reva was no longer a character, but a device.
    • I have no idea why Gio would go to Sonny first since he told Emma he thought Sonny knew about him all along. Maybe to clarify if Sonny knew?  Considering Sonny didn't know Dante was his son back then it doesn't really matter. I am sure Sonny will make some wise parallel about his father leaving and his mother dying or being lied to by Olivia and Gio will see the light.
    • I know I have heard Orpheus mention it, at least in passing.  I still don't know why exactly he hates John though.  It seems Orpheus was heavily leaning into a Stefano moment of Marlena obsession, but then he always wanted to murder her a bunch so it's unclear.
    • I always thought that whoever pitched his return story in 2016 just didn't do their homework, and didn't know that the real Roman was the one who killed Orpheus' wife.
    • Xander is Victor's son, but thought he was his nephew until Victor's will.  His mom is an alcoholic who ran Sarah down then left town.  He's got a kid with Sarah and then is related to the rest of the Kiriakis brood. I would argue Orpheus lost his purpose years ago.  I lost the plot with Orpheus when his entire beef was with John and not Roman.  The person who actually killed his wife. Too be kind I'll just say it looks like Chandler was a bit out of practice at the old acting game.  He's never stopped smirking.
    • He is Victor's son so Bo and Philip are his brothers and Brady and Shawn are his nephews. Justin has remained his first cousin

    • -- I didn't want to be the first person to mention it, because I've complained so much about Chandler Massey's smirking and grinning in the past. He just cannot get through a scene without breaking -- that grin broke through every time he ran into another character today. He looks young -- and good -- but I am not a fan of this acting. He's not trying. -- I agree with others here about this goodbye. The bandaged John is a throwback and a full circle moment, but it's gone on too many days already. I especially hate the "He's getting better" stuff. That doesn't work since we all know how this ends. -- I'm glad to see the return of all these characters and I love the flashbacks, but I think DAYS could have done all that without the bandaged exit.
    • That's the one thing I really dislike about all this. Orpheus should not be alive.  If anything, I hope he's erased from existence from here on. He has no purpose now that John is dead.
