He doesn't have those misogynistic tendencies like Ron does 

It's not possible that every actor loved every storyline for 7+ years.

I wouldn't believe that even if we were talking about Bill Bell, Agnes Nixon or Douglas Marland

But even those writers were human enough to admit/own their writing flaws. 

 

Since RC is incapable, I don't mind actors wanting to drag/read him.

Was there a “thing” about who called her Abby, and who used Abigail?

I recall EJ saying Abigail, but Chad goes back and forth.

EJ and John both seem to like saying everyone's full name.  I recall they both used to call Sami "Samantha" for the most part.

It seems like possibly an acting  choice?  Drake has done it pretty much always-even though he calls Marlena "Doc".  I can't recall if DF does it a lot.  James Scott's EJ did though.

Not really. What happened was that she was always "Abby" as a child and during her time as a teen in the mid-00s, but when they cast Kate Mansi in 2011, they rebranded her as "Abigail" because we already had Gabi in the teen set. That loosened up over the years and really tailed off once Gabi went to prison in 2014, and after that, they just used Abigail/Abby pretty interchangeably.

Then someone changed Harper Devereaux's will and tried to make Gabi the true heir; yadda yadda yadda
