I hate that John Cates is being made the Villian here.

But, in fact, for a number of weeks Cates has been completely out of control. So, are you saying you wish they had not written it so John Jagger/Wagger went completely off the rails?

Was a good episode but If were in charge i'd write Sonny off. Its beyond time.

It still may happen.

Using Kristina was wrong but everything Cates about Sonny was true.

I am not calling him "Cates" and "John" like he was some serious upgraded character lol. He was just a random blond guy pretending to be Jagger who looked like he was on a break from Hallmark movies. Where he'll probably go next and make more money anyway. PM gave him some good speeches but I never saw anything long-term there. He was just a tool.

The difference between now and then is (based on Mulcahey's own interviews) he just didn't have a ton of time for Sonny period, unlike Guza.

I liked the story, even if there were a few rough edges in the plotting (Ava randomly mistaking Sonny's meds for sleeping pills). I think the plan was for her and Valentin to link up via their mutual interest and continue the scheme. I could've gone either way with keeping Ava or finally cutting her loose. I think she still has gas in the tank though, not unlike the Alex Olanov example I always cite from OLTL.

I think Mulcahey wrote some pretty good scenes for Jason and Carly, particularly the one where he explains his tattoo to her. But he was working at a disadvantage, namely the fact that Steve and Laura have no sexual heat unlike him and Sarah. I think this was a dream of Korte that was never going to work, and I think they have no clue what to do with Jason now. I think they had banked on putting him and Carly over and realized quickly it wasn't happening. Hence Brennan the dayplayer becoming ascendant.

I think Mulcahey may not care for Sonny, but I think even Guza tired of the character by the end - it just didn't really matter beyond some of the lines given to the people in Sonny's circle. He never goes anywhere. I can understand the idea Mulcahey was going for, but I was too cynical to go along.

My main issue with Ava is I just don't know what is left for the actual character. She is similar to Nina in the actress alone keeps her place on the canvas viable. They should have tried to work with this as Mulcahey did with Nina, but instead Ava was pushed to a place she likely wasn't going to get out of. And now because of the writer changes they have just dropped the whole thing.

Brennan and Jagger did seem to have much more chemistry with Laura Wright than most of her central male cast members. I can't see Brennan lasting either. If he weren't mostly on his farm and if he had any ties to Valentini I would say they might call up Paul Anthony Stewart.

A tool in the sense of someone who is used for something or a tool in the sense of a dweeb? Not that it matters, at all, just wondering.

Cates was going to have Ava killed. That's not a villian?

Hmmm I think Sonny hired that woman and told her to say Cates set it up

Boyle took Ava to the Pine Barens where Sonny takes people he wants dead

Sonny had Jason track down Ava

PM did not like making the bad guys smarter than law enforcement

So the Qs went to sleep after an FBI agent was murdered in their estate and the killer was not found?

Both characters would have been written out years ago if they weren't portrayed by these actresses.

Another murder on their grounds is nothing to lose sleep over!

Re: Robert, it is sad. When I started watching GH in 1990, 1991, he was the star of the show. I guess with old stars coming back (Luke) and new stars being created (Sonny and Jason), he got lost in the shuffle, and, with all of them staying, there was no need to revisit the days when the whole show revolved around the Robert character.

Tristan was burned out and pissed at Monty. Finola was too, and Monty kicking her off the show early made it all worse. Riche tried to get both of them back/to stay and they were done and declined. Other than appearances as ghosts when Robin was trying to decide if she should tell a near death Stone that she was also HIV+, they were not back on the show until much later.

Robert has been a guest star for most of his time since 2006. They use him better at some times than others. I know he has been on FV’s shitlist a couple of times after speaking out about the show. Tristan publicly stated he was being punished during one of these periods. He really sparkled with Emma Samms during her last visit though.

Without Robin I am fine with less Robert, and Anna still being a major player. Finola is more versatile and Anna has more layers.

The worst part is Sonny was supposed to be in prison at the time he saved someone from the bomb, but that was ignored so he wouldn’t pay for his crimes.

Well, tbf he suffered SOOOME time behind bars. ;)

her fans were riled up at what was likely a slow-moving exit plot for her. If that was the plan, then I wish they had just yanked off the bandage and killed Ava quickly, had her get too smart too fast and end up being offed by some bigger villain, which could have further sent Sonny into a spiral.

I still am of the therapy that PM would have found wiggle room to keep Ava over a complette exit...and there's quite a few theories running around here for that...and he would have kept her a complex villain...something that is needed.

I'm not sure anyone even got fed! If you recall, Monica had invited all these people to supper. Supper was being held because Willow wasn't home yet.
