Soap operas are kind of known for having slaps and catfights. I assume that wasn’t a thing when soaps first aired on TV in the 1950s though, so when did that become a regular thing to expect?

I am watching the soap opera The Doctors right now... it's 1968 and there have been 3 slaps in 3 months so far. It's very slappy 60s... kinda shocked me.

I’m surprised because I would think slaps didn’t really become a thing until the 1970s.

Although I can't prove it, I don't think it was common for women to slap other women until after Dynasty.

Women got to slap men.

Vanessa slaps Nadine.

For context, Nadine is accusing Vanessa of using her attempted rape to get Billy back.

B&B: The best slap, and Stephanie destroying the vase with her cane afterwards (2005). What gets me is the intensity in Stephanie's despite faking the appearance of a feeble old woman.

For me this is the best slap-scene from B&B. Years of animosity between Brooke and Stephanie finally explodes and for the first time Brooke actually slaps Stephanie back, and does it with a vengeance....

What makes the scene even funnier is how butch Susan was looking with those ill-fitting pantsuits.

🎶 That old house is gonna be shaking
I hope those bricks and boards can take it
But I won't be surprised if the whole damn place just falls
I'm gonna rock you baby, like a wrecking ball 🎶🎵

No that's a different scene, without a slap.

Ah thank you. I just had to rewatch this entire scene, it’s so delicious
