I came back to GH to watch the Bobbie episodes and have picked a few episodes here and there since then; how the hell does GH have so many damn sets?! And they don’t feel claustrophobic.  I’ll be tuning in to see the new writers but I couldn’t not mention just the amount of sets I’ve seen on this show.

Don't get us started on their having a damn live horse in the stables. The show's budget situation for sets at least has improved a lot since the mid-2010s. I'd credit dropping Steve and Howarth, but those were much more recent and Steve is back.

FV has always been very skilled at managing a budget, which gives me supreme doubts he is going anywhere. Nonetheless his GH looked much more 'peppy and cheap' for much of the 2010s - everyone was living in the Metro Court for a long while, most of the sets slathered in grey paint, etc. That changed over the last 6-7 years. There's still too much of the Bed Bath & Beyond uniform look in the Q mansion, Carly's home, etc. (and Sonny's new 'penthouse' is one room and embarrassing) but beyond that the show looks pretty good.

It's good to have new people. You, here, others on UglyX. You remind us. The last time there were new sets. DAYS had a sort of pretend office cubicle & on GH the Q mansion got this huge observatory. Talk about contrast! But, I think the cast has got to be trimmed. And in this day & age I think it's ridiculous to pay for a horse & a horse wrangler. Also for a llama & a llama wrangler. And, if they did away with the blasted horse (which seems to keep changing) then they wouldn't be wasting a set on the horse. So, you see, we find things to complain about!! I won't bore you with all that's been wrong with the writing for at least 4 years.

It is impressive. FV has found a way to maximize their studio space at Prospect Studios in line with today’s economic reality for the show. His peers could learn a thing or two.

agree with Vee- things got really better about 5 years ago. Before that almost all the newer sets had a blue color, everything had a sameness. There were times that actors with very whitened teeth looked like they had blue teeth at the Metro Court bar, with the mix of lighting they were using and the blue walls.

I especially like Liz’s house, and Laura’s apartment. Sonny’s recreated penthouse is a miss for me having watched when the original set was in use. I appreciate Kelly’s/Bobbie’s hasn’t been too drastically changed like the Q mansion. And I don’t hate the Q mansion. It just doesn’t seem old money anymore.

    • Oups!! I guess when i was doing the editing, i left a part of 3169, too (RTL Lounge airs 2 episodes per day back to back). Sorry about that ! Tonight i ll try to record 3171-3172. If i m not mistaken 3172 is missing from YouTube.

    • I would put Felicia in the 'small dose' auntie category because she means well, but comes on too strongly at times.  In small doses, she would be a blast to hang out with.. but in anything larger than a small... she would be exhausting. I tend to prefer lower key people than people that are always 'on' all the time.  Those people can veer off into energy vampire status pretty quickly.
    • I didn't like the Harry story, but Nazar did have a great introduction. He was probably the highlight of last year.  Now that you mention it, I guess the truly dire stories (Nicole, Harper/Drew/Phil, Nicole) didn't start until summer.
    • thank you all for contributing to the Vault. I am slowly getting towards watching the 1998 episodes

    • I pray⏤and I know it's a big prayer⏤that Noel Maxam is somehow able to figure things out budget-wise so we can stop re-dressing existing sets as "new" sets. I know in apartment buildings apartments can generally look the same, but I'm over it on this soap. The last time he was executive producer was in 2011 when the original Horton Town Square was introduced, and we had some other sets get introduced around this time (likely pre-commissioned prior to his election), but I'm trying to have some hope he can pull this off. Let's [finally] see it.
    • Definitely not the best of RC's breakdowns. I don't know what it says that I could pick up his trademarks yesterday 30 minutes in without even knowing that he did one. There was something more...quirky/boardstroked...about Dani. Though I love the Dani/Nicole scenes, she was just a little too hip?...which made me think back to the episode when she broke into Bill/Hayley's house. Then watching the episode later on, I saw Hayley was being used as a punchline to the more interesting and relevant Bill/Ted scenes (see you all were just talking about how you hoped they got scenes...one thing this show is great at...what people want on this board...they already have the foresight for it. The reason I feel the DNA test will get mentioned @Cheap21 in more detail). And then poor Anita reduced for the most part propping up an album.    Needless to say, not my favorite RC episode. And since we are in aftermath week, I just smh. And barely worth a rewatch. BUT...was there good for me?    Yes. Thankfully, we still got good aftermath beats regardless of the breakdown.   Like I said, I really like the Dani/Nicole scenes. But I love their dynamic. And I was looking forward to the shoe being on the other foot once the SilkPress storyline hit climax. Quirks aside, it did not disappoint. Dani came in, and she came in fierce for her sister. I loved her attacking Eva. And then her being surprisingly introspective about Nicole due to her own experience. No wonder Nicole reacted to her being self-aware. So did I.    Meanwhile Bill and Ted finally met up. I'm kinda sad that we did not get that sooner given the scenes that played out sidepiece in the background aside. It might have been interesting to see more of their status as non-Duprees coming into the family explored.    And of course I can't leave without mentioning Eva vs SilkPress Sheila which was the highlight. Both of them were giving. And SilkPress was just so cold with it. I did love that Eva finally stopped letting her gaslight her. Sad to see the duo break up. But I did love that she went to Ted. So...the next turn begins.   And speaking of turns...uh oh at Kat and Tomas. I'm sure he won't be staying away from her. So most definitely, Kat vs Eva ain't over. It will be interesting to see how it goes now that most people know that Kat was right all along.
    • Nah I enjoyed it much more last year because of the Harry plot that ended during that time. Nazar being introduced and them. But this time it is so lame and nothing I like forward to anymore and I’m one of them long time fans. Of course I would be upset if they would cancel it but maybe take a year off or two and return refreshed
    • came across this quote that provides some context: “It’s hard to escape the cultural reach of the Catholic Church when you live in the Western world. It is, for better or worse, one of the load-bearing walls of our civilization. Its influence wafts from the church into the streets of civic life, the courts, the schools, the arts.”
