…and we actually had a talented and charismatic actor with Micah Alberti. He was very “Tad Junior” in his swagger. The actor was polished, but it took so long to figure out what to do with Jamie that Micah was already Primetime bound by the time they figured it out.

I love that Justin Bruening and Alexa Havins met on set, but in terms of acting chops the next Robert Redford he was not…

With Bianca Montgomery front and center for so many years on AMC, you have to wonder why the writers never gave her half-siblings Molly and Mathew a meaningful storyline. Both had so many roots on campus. They were clean slates that the writers could have taken anywhere. And because their parents were not related to everyone, they were ripe for romantic pairings across the canvas.

Molly’s cancer and Matt’s conception storyline was such a big storyline on the show. It would have been nice to see it come full circle by seeing what happens in a sibling relationship like that.

Guiding Light

Ben Reade undervalued

Shayne Lewis undervalued. Every time we got a recast it was like a different character compared to the last.

Samantha Marler undervalued/underdeveloped. Pretty crazy how we never heard from her again after her departure in the early 90s.

India took in a kid by the name of Dorie, and India returned three times after her departure in the 80s, and Dorie was never mentioned. Could've been India's Achilles heel of sorts when it came to India's involvement the Spaulding corporate drama over the years.

Matthew Evans was Amanda Spaulding's younger brother (his parents Jennifer and Mark Evans) and could have mixed it up with Michelle Bauer/Ben Reade/Billy Lewis.

Emily Norris was the daughter of Ken Norris and Janet Mason. Ken returned in the late 90s, but the show of course had no interest at the time in it's history. Emily would've added to the Holly/Blake/Roger/Ed dynamic.

William "Billy" Fletcher son of Peggy Scott; instead of introducing Hart Jessupt/Laura Jessup as part of Roger's history would've been quite nice to have Peggy's son return and increasingly become like a surrogate son to Roger with Blake growing jealous while on the outs with Roger.

Andy Norris was written off and sent to jail after blackmailing the residents of Springfield; but I think the show should've brought him back at some point down the road to continue being a headache for both the Spaulding and Lewis families(Andy's history with Trish/his history with Alan).

Yep to everyone who said Y&R. To their credit and detriment, they never abandoned veteran characters for younger ones. This also resulted in an underdeveloped new generation to take the manual, or be invested in. The younger charachters up until the Nick & Sharon era stuck. Everyone after that except maybe Billy fell off. Abby, Devon & Lilly aren't that interesting. Cassie and Colleen were killed off for no reason. Moses, Reed, Faith, etc are nowhere to be seen.

    • Possibly.  I remember the "movie" being Jack/Jen, Bo/Carly, and John/Isabella centric.  I am assuming they are just recreating the idea of people/couples being brought together in a storm, which isn't very creative in the first place.  One Stormy Night was the worst of the 3 primetime movies too. Lol.  Fair.  Writing some press releases for her the two clients she has does not mean she can write what looked to be a 500 page novel. Stephanie spends 20 hours a day figuring out her love life anyway.
    • One Stormy Night was the name of the January 1992 Days primetime episode. https://www.jason47.com/days/episodeguide1992.html From jason47 bio of Jeanne Marie Ford:  when I was in high school, my best friend got me hooked on 'Days.'  She first worked on the "Days" staff in 1992 as an unpaid intern and soon after became the show's writer's assistant from 1992-1996. https://www.jason47.com/days/writersinfo.html
    • I have not been convinced any Stephanie since Shayna Rose can read.
    • The throwback, and the randomness of it all has me worried that Jamey had something to do with it.
    • As a PR person, she's undoubtedly written zillions of press releases and presentations, so I don't find it that much of a stretch. But it sure did come out of nowhere. I don't know if any soap has done particularly well with a book plot, though, so I'm apprehensive of where this will go.
    • Reminder for Tues. May 6 and Wed. May 7: Due to UEFA European Soccer Champions League Semifinals  Y&R and B&B may be partially disrupted in some timezones, but it's not an official preemption. (Same procedure as Tues. April 29 and Wed. April 30.) This soccer coverage will be broadcast live in the European evenings, which is 3-5pm Eastern USA, plus a 2-3pm Eastern prematch show. Total timeframe: three hours 2-5pm EDT on those four dates. On CBS only. BeyondTheGates: This fully officially preempts BTG in all timezones in USA and Canada. Tues. April 29, Wed. April 30, Tues. May 6, and Wed. May 7. Because Y&R and B&B air fully in Eastern/Central time, it's not an official preemption, and those shows will be considered to have aired --  so you'd need to watch on another time/channel or online, or you'd miss it. • Stephanie writing a novel is odd.  She's never seemed interested in writing or much of a creative type.  Is One Stormy Night a nod to the primetime Days episode from the early 90's?  That would literally have nothing to do with Stephanie, nor were any of the characters featured in that special closely related to her IIRC.  Although One Stormy Night isn't a super creative title or anything, so it's probably just a coincidence.  And, yes, it was very rude for Alex to just take Stephanie's personal, private writing without asking lol.
    • And its 2025, not the 1970s, 80s, 90s... just bc pre-emptions have been a thing for decades, doesn't mean there shouldnt already be ways to deal with it in the modern era. Airing th episodes in the markets that can and putting them up and directing viewers to CBS.com to see them for free and of course Paramount Plus for those subscribers, seems like a reasonable compromise. Today's tv market leans heavily towards streaming so there is no reason why they shouldnt leverage that when it comes to this
    • Anita Dupree is Ruth Marshall from Generations. Ruth also a past of being a singer who gave it up because of raising a family and having a husband.
