Since announcing she and her husband, actor/writer/producer husband Thomas Payton, were expecting their second child together, “General Hospital” star Sofia Mattsson (Sasha Gilmore) has left fans waiting with bated breath on the little one’s birth.

On Saturday, Mattsson, whose birthday is also today, took to Instagram to not only share the happy news but also shared the first images of the couple’s newest bundle of joy.

“Couldn’t ask for a better birthday than spending it with my girl who’s a little over one month today!” Mattsson said of her daughter, born May 21, 2023. “Thank you so much for all the birthday wishes!! Feeling very grateful.”

In response to the happy news, several of Mattsson’s friends, colleagues and co-stars chimed in, responding to her post. “Ohhhhh so beautiful!!!! Happy Birthday,” said co-star Laura Wright (Carly) in celebrating Mattsson’s news. Co-star, Tanisha Harper (Jordan), noted, “This is just too sweet. 2 beauties. Happy birthday darlin!” Meanwhile, Briana Nicole Henry (ex-Jordan, “General Hospital”) stated, “Congrats beautiful and happy birthday.” Brytni Sarpy (Elena, “The Young and the Restless”) commented, saying, “Happy Birthday and congrats.”

Just as she did with the couple’s first child, Mattsson did not reveal the name of their daughter. Their son was born on July 26, 2021. “He joined us on 7/26/21 and stole my heart completely!!” said at the time.

In February 2022, Mattsson officially became a United States citizen. “I’m so grateful to this country for all the opportunities I’ve been given and for helping me make my dreams come true!” she said at the time announcing the news.
