Como agua para chocolate (Like Water For Chocolate)

It was such a great movie! It combines comedy, drama, sex, and cooking. It's erotic, but not overly-graphic like most Spanish-language movies. It's also one of the best Spanish-language movies that I have seen, and while it uses a lot of magical realism, it's not confusing or hard to follow.

Yeah, the ending was so weird! It kind of ruined the movie because I thought that the beginning was good. There are better movies by Pedro Almodovar. Hable con ella is really good. I had to watch it for my Spanish class last semester. The ending's kind of surprising, but it makes sense.

I will have to check that one out. Someone also told me (in another group) that Motorcycle Diaries was good too. I think it stars the guy who played in Bad Education.

I think I may have gotten an edited version of Bad Education as someone told there was an explicit sex scene in it but my version did not have it. I got it from Blockbuster. Of course I was also working on my computer at the same time and could have missed the sex scene but I don't think so.

Oh and yes the ending was weird but Testostorone still has the weirdest. I think that was the worse movie in many ways. It was just too ridiculous for me.

I have a very wide range of likes in movies and even have liked some pretty weird or crazy movies (Zoolander for instance) but the ending and other things in Testostorone were too way out there for even me.

Yeah, Motorcycle Diaries is really good. Gael Garcia Bernal is in it, and it's more of an American-type movie because I think Robert Redford produced it or something. I don't even think there's any sex in it, and the only reason it's rated R is because of the language.

The version that I saw was rated NC-17, and there was supposed to be one graphic sex scene...but I didn't see it.

A few friends, my roommate, and I watched Bridget Jones's Diary in our room. It's my favourite movie!! It's so funny and both Hugh Grant and Colin Firth are so sexy!!

We're watching the sequel, Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason in a few minutes. It's not as good as the first one, but it's still very funny!

I agree about Urban Legend. I like those movies. They scare kids. That's funny.

I saw Wicker Park. I was expecting something along the lines of Swimfan with the hot, crazy, psycho-!@#$%^&*] who falls in love with the guy who's with the All-American girl and then she tries and kill the girl. But I thought Wicker Park was boring and I'm glad I got it free from the library. I only liked the fact that Josh Hartnett and Matthew Lilliard were both unknowingly having sex with the same chick who they both considered thier girlfriend. She was playing like everyone in the movie and that's about all I liked. It took too long to develop suspense and drama so I don't recommend renting it.

    • Am I remembering correctly that the Madison's lived in a Spanish revival-style house? I have a vague recollection of the fireplace looking especially Spanish in style. It is unusual that Montecello had so many architectural styles.  Obviously, that might occur IRL.  But, look at other east coast soaps and there is a definitive style that is throughout (because it was styled by a set decorator) regardless of the income of the occupants.
    • @kalbir MSW was a powerhouse for CBS. Angela Lansbury was a superb actress. In 1985, TV viewers were tiring of the primetime soaps and the like. People wanted storytelling and MSW was great at that and had great guest stars. Storytelling -- an amazing and novel concept. CBS Daytime by 1985 was beating ABC so CBS was on the upswing.
    • I'd say just the opposite - conflict means they will find out and then be at odds. For the limited amount of time people on this show have conflict (if they aren't named Nina or Ric, I guess).
    • Totes mcgoats (aka I agree). But, now the character needs to move forward.  Clyde's exit was 12/11/24.  It is May.  She and Chad have been on one date. I don't think they've slept together. And she was only planning on sticking around for a year.
    • That is one of the best insults I've heard in a long time.  I burst out laughing when Kat called Eva that.  LOL Their scenes, of course, were really good.  Colby and Ambyr have so much chemistry.  The only thing I'd change is Kat saying "you're dead to me."  That's a phrase usually said about someone you care about.  I would've preferred something like "You will never be my sister," or something similar to that.  Nice contrast at the end with both mothers/daughters:  Kat comforting/consoling her mother, and Eva being locked out by her mother.  Yeah, I wasn't a big of fan of the singing either, especially after your daughter's life has been destroyed.  What?  LOL And I also agree with those that thought Dana/Leslie's scenes with the Dupree's didn't feel right since Eva is not a Dupree....unless she is.  But as of right now, she's not.
    • Trisha Mann-Grant, Ambyr Michelle, Sean Freeman are destined for bigger and better things. They need to move on as soon as their initial contracts are done.
    • Daphnée Duplaix and Trisha Mann-Grant on Instagram live, 5/5/2025 just concluded, saved here https://www.instagram.com/p/DJSsYb7PDv8/
    • I really need to see Anita in a scene that isn't with a family member. In fact, I would have preferred that she would have gotten rid of the mob and had a one on one with Leslie to lay down the law with her.  I'm going to say it, Mike Manning has been completely lifeless on this show. Other than people's superficial fondness for him, I don't get what they see in him as an actor. I never saw him on DAYS though. The show had another really strange cut right before the opening credits where it looked like they almost cut off Nicole mid-sentence.  Kat/Eva are carrying this show on their backs. Lock them in for lifetime contracts, I beg.
    • There's a 1980 scene of Victor and Katherine in the Chancellor Estate living room where they went over a contract that would put Victor in charge of Chancellor Industries, but it was rewritten that Katherine brought Victor to Genoa City so he could run Chancellor Industries.
    • Put me in the minority in being happy about Cat not being Abby. After the two adult recasts played tag with the role, it's time for a few years of rest. I have a huge list of things I hate about RC's writing, but that choice was not one of them.
