   Yeah, right. I thought we'd moved past the "bi" thing sticking your toes in the water stuff. I know anytime I had a man tell me he was "bi" I told him to back the hell up and leave me alone!

I'm listening to glistening orchestral soul today, Ronnie Dyson "If You Let Me Make Love To You (Then Why Can't I Touch You)" Sylph, you'll love the strings in this one:

This song was from the broadway show "Salvation". the show wans't a huge hit, but this song was, going to number 8 in the spring of 1970.

The sorta skipping elfin quality? :P Are you calling me homophobic :P I actually don't think his music's too good--it is a LOT like Scissor Sisters--the mix of disco hommage with Elton John hommage--but he doesn't want to alienate the middle aged mothers and young girls so doesn't even have a bit of their edge or sense of fun (I mean he did a single that was a song to overweight girls and how beautiful they are which is a good message but the song was so simplistic random that it seemed insulting to me). I don't think hes' a very good songwriter.

I'm falling in love with another new discovery of mine from the 70's, Richard Barnes:

<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,0,0" width="420" height="339"><param name="movie" value="http://www.123video.nl/123video_share.swf?mediaSrc=440351" /><param name="quality" value="high" /><embed src="http://www.123video.nl/123video_share.swf?mediaSrc=440351" quality="high" width="420" height="339" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" /></object>

This song barely squeaked into the UK top 40, but DAMN if he and it aren't GORGEOUS. This song kind of reminds of early Bee Gees hits.

My good friend Stephanie Campbell did a great interview with legendary record industry mixer Tom Moulton, responsible for the mixes of so many legendary disco hits, and the inventor of the 12 inch single. Interesting interview !:

This is one of my favorite dance mixes by Tom, the dance mix of Grace Jones' "I Need a Man" from 1977:

    • Ron C breakdowns usually involve quick snip scenes.. and so far, it is apparent in spades.  I wish we had the longer scenes like we had in the previous few episodes. And I see Febreeze appeared again today.  More airtime/purpose than Ashley/Derek LOL
    • I loved Felicia and Donna. They were two of the reasons I couldn't stop watching the show even when the writing was horrible. I was never really a fan of Rachel's unless she was sniping at Cecile (my fave character!). But Felicia and Donna (especially Anna Stuart) are AW to me. Of course, it was around the time of their arrivals that I remember I started watching the show. I was 10 in '83. For me, they were always there. I wouldn't have wanted either of them to be killed off.  Rachel and Mac were okay for me but I never saw most of their relationship play or Rachel's previous work with Steve and Alice. I just saw her as there; the matriarch. Never a fan of Rachel and Carl. It made no sense whatsoever.  I did like Quinn and was shocked when they killed her off. Her and Zack were just starting to become a couple I wanted to watch. She should definitely have been a fixture on the show along with her family. Carter and Thomasina I thought were fun and a great couple, too.  That's the thing about being an AW fan. The show was always on the brink of greatness, but then it would shoot itself in the foot with stupid decisions from writing to cast exits, etc. They could just never quite get it together. The cast was amazing! It's the only thing that saved them for so long.
    • I LOVED LD on AW...one of my all time favorite characters! However, on OLTL, her character was pretty pointless from the word go. I think trying to make her this character she played decades before was also a bad choice. She should have been a brand new character that could have been tied into the current canvas better. Rae really had no connections or family on the show. Imagine if she had been brought on as a recast Melinda Cramer, freshly released from the hospital. She would have been tied into a major family, be Kelly's mother, and have some real drama to play opposite RS.
    • it's up  BTG Episode #48 - May 8th cbs.com https://www.cbs.com/shows/video/vEQupDSVKChQKTvVWgX8mrUj2kCJEQTv/ paramountplus https://www.paramountplus.com/shows/video/vEQupDSVKChQKTvVWgX8mrUj2kCJEQTv/
    • I agree DZ is doing good work.  It's nice to see him getting meaty material again.  It's just off. Sonny was also low key the voice of reason saying when talking about Gio which I don't love lol.  And, yes, Dante calling a 15? 16? kid who had a couple of beers reckless at heart is silly.  I think most people had a few drinks in high school.  In isolation, the scenes with Jason/Danny were good when he was talking about AJ's drinking problem.  If you ignore everything else about what Jason did to AJ it was a good historic throwback.
    • @janea4old Tricia Mann-Grant also called Leslie a narcissist in the ET special before it premiered. Thank you! Looking forward to it.
    • -- This is maddening. DZ is acting his ass off, but the script is a mess. As you said, if Dante came down hard on Rocco, these outbursts would make some sense. Comparatively, though, Rocco got a pass, and that's just insane. Dante's not only criticizing Danny and Gio, but the people who raised them. It's just nuts. -- And then Dante goes to his father -- the mob boss killer WHO SHOT DANTE -- to declare Danny "reckless at heart." JFC. -- Kai was in the hospital for that dislocated shoulder about 3x as long as Sonny was in the hospital for his heart. Make it make sense.
    • I'm really of the mind now that Leslie really did have that abortion and Eva isn't Ted or her child.
    • Isn’t it thrilling to get that kind of buzz from a performance again? If this show had nothing else going for it (and it has other real strengths, including the actress opposite her), that would be enough to keep me invested.
