The last story I remember Lyla getting was the silly Native American story and breaking up with Cal who was crushing on Connor by that point. Subsequent writers wrote Lyla as a horrible neglectful/abusive mother to Katie although when Lyla finally appeared for a guest appearance they seemed to dial back on that only for it to come back up again as an explanation for why Lyla couldn’t come to one of Katie’s later weddings, yikes!

And yes Susan was reduced to meddlesome mother role, it was underwhelming, original Ric Decker story at least gave her something to do. I thought Susan was going to have a very interesting  stuff to do with Gwen/Carly story when Susan realized she had a connection to Carly’s dad, but it went nowhere and we got stuck with Iris instead.
