Drew Barrymore, The Drew Barrymore Show

Currently airing its second season in national syndication, “The Drew Barrymore Show” from CBS Media Ventures is expected back for a third season beginning this fall. There’s a catch, however.

According to Broadcasting & Cable, the talk show will be split into two half hours which can be run as a one-hour block back to back or separately. The outlet reports that CBS-owned stations will be pairing one of the half hours of “Drew Barrymore” with their local news in top markets while the second half-hour will air on duopoly stations (ie. CBS-owned WCBS and WLNY in New York).

CBS currently offers a similar half-hour block format on Sundays for “Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan.” The public affairs program which currently ranks number one for the season among Total Viewers airs nationally as a half-hour program with many CBS stations choosing not to air the second half-hour due to other scheduling commitments. The full hour is available in top markets such as New York and Los Angeles and can also be viewed in its entirety via CBSNews.com or Paramount+.

“The Drew Barrymore” is currently averaging a 0.6 household rating for the 2021-2022 television season. However, for the week of February 28-March 4, 2022, the most recent week in which ratings are available for syndicated television, the show ranked 10th among all talk shows with a 0.5 household rating. Other than “The Doctors” and “The Real,” all other shows ranked lower have already been officially canceled (ie. “The Good Dish,” “The Nick Cannon Show”) or have been airing repeats since ceasing original production years earlier (“The Jerry Springer Show”).

A show about optimism TV, bringing information, inspiration, and entertainment to the daytime, “Drew Barrymore” is produced and distributed by CBS Media Ventures and shot in New York City.

Drew Barrymore, Chris Miller and Jason Kurtz are executive producers.
