Actors who could/should have played other characters on their show.

In 1988 (?), Y&R hired Brenda Epperson to play Ashley Abbott immediately following the departure of Eileen Davidson.  At almost the same time, Jabot's books were being audited by George Rawlins's bossy, assertive, sarcastic niece Brittany Norman, played by Melissa Morgan.  Although Brenda Epperson LOOKED like Ashley, Melissa Morgan was imbued with more of Ashley's personality.  At the time, I felt that those two actresses should've swapped roles.

i get what you're saying but Melisa Morgan physically didn't work as Ashley for me - maybe with blonde hair?

How about Nina Areveson as Ashley and Brenda as Cassandra?

Another thought I had was Lauren Koslow as Jill. She did replace Deb Adair on Days and I could see her as Jill.

Nina Arvesen would've made a good Ashley recast. I can't picture Brenda Epperson as Cassandra though.

Lauren Koslow as Jill in 1983 instead of Brenda Dickson, I could see that.

Another World

Philece Sampler would have been better as Nicole Love than Donna.

Laurence Lau gives me more of a Dennis Carrington/Wheeler vibe than Jamie Frame.

Days

For the umpteenth time

Deidre Hall as Sandy Horton

Richard Guthrie as Steve Olsen

How about Joe Gallison playing Tommy Horton and Neil's stories be given to Tommy?

Joe was 7 years younger than John Lupton but it could have worked. A few tweaks to the story and Tommy would be a major story rather than an also ran.

Neil's stories and romances were always apart from the Hortons so things wouldn't get tangled .

Of course in later years the marriage to Marie would have to be nixed.

The surrogate story could be Tommy wanting to give his brother Mickey the child he could never have and had lost with Mike.

@ironlion The Bell shows in the late 1980s were packed w/ blondes in the 20s/30s age range. Y&R had MTS, LLB, Barbara Crampton, Nina Arvesen, Brenda Epperson. B&B had Joanna Johnson, KKL, Teri Ann Linn.

The only thing Billy Miller should have been was the security guard who allowed GH actors onto and off the lot.

    • Thanks for posting this, fascinating read. It's clear how ambivalent Wyndham is about Justine. IMO, it reads like she agrees that the end of the storyline was bad, but reading between the lines I think she thought she was doing good work for the meat of it....which was not the case. As bad as the writing for most of that story was, it was truly made worse by her embarrassing performance. After the story concluded she kept falling back into Justine ticks, when she wasn't phoning he scenes in. Not to play Freud, but was it to tr*ll her critics?

    • I love this more than any theory I've seen yet
    • I wonder what Dana and Hayley's first scene will be like. Dana has fear/contempt for Bill, but I can imagine Hayley being curious to meet her.
    • Daphne was just FANTASTIC today. I know people wanted histronics and it may still come but she was pitch perfect today. As much as I like Maurice she's gonna need someone just as strong now and it's just not him
    • Today's episode was one of my favorites so far! TT's Anita standing up to Dana was perfect. I was surprised with how restrained Dani was, in some scenes, I forgot she was there. The ending "Amazing Grace" montage was brilliant. I like how Vernon's reason complements Anita's emotion. DD was terrific portraying her mixed sense of betrayal and humiliation. I liked her comment about how she condescended to Dani after her breakup with Bill, unaware that she was also married to a cheater. I am going to miss MJ as Ted and I don't agree with the criticisms of his acting. His conduct on social media is a different story. I agree that BC's Martin has come into his own. He and MM have also discovered some chemistry which allows them portray a believable couple. Eva is the most empathetic character for me. Seeing get locked out of the apartment was heartbreaking. I also liked that the writing for Kat has been much more nuanced than one might have expected just weeks ago. I liked the expression on Kat's face at the end when she was embracing Nicole. Kat has probably never seen her calm, poised mother so upset. CM's face portrayed a sense of discomfort now that the carer/child roles have been somewhat reversed. I believe now more than ever that Kat is Ted and Dana's child. Eva is Ted and Nicole's child. Dana switched them as insurance - if Bill came after her to take or harm Eva, Dana would reveal that Eva was actually a Dupree, giving her some protection. She would also be secure in the fact that her birth daughter Kat was ensconced in the privilege and security of the Dupree family. The way Dana raised Eva - "weaponizing" her instead of nurturing her as a loving mother - also aligns with this theory.
    • @Paul Raven - thanks for reviewing the content for accuracy.  You know, the nice thing about AI is that you can teach it things, so I am having it review the classic AMC Tumblr to increase its accuracy.
