DAYS' John Goes Gunning For Alex At His Wedding To Marlena

Certain that Alex plans to remarry Marlena and then murder her, John hatches a killer plot to stop him this week on DOOL. With Marlena and Alex hours away from exchanging 'I do' Abe and Kate try to talk John out of his plan. No such luck. So Abe, Roman and Tek confer to secure the church, while John takes target practice. Oblivious to all of the above, Marlena forges ahead with her wedding and asks Belle to be her matron of honor. Belle, however is admantly against her mother's nuptials. "It's a rather direct conversation", recounts Deidre Hall(Marlena). Belle says, "I can't stand by and be a part of watching you marry Alex. It's a mistake." But Marlena beseeches Belle to be there for her. It's a special day and she wants Belle with her. Belle tries to get Marlena to remember her love for John before the the ceremony, "She brings something old, new borrowed and blue do to bridal room "previews Hall. Items that will help trigger Marlena's memory, the pearls she wore when she and John renewed their vows and the blue ribbon that was in her bouquet. Marlena keeps fighting her feelings and Belle leaves frustrated. Alone, Marlena's memories of John grow stronger and she actually tells Kate (of all people) she loves him. But by the time Kate returns to with Lexie, Marlena insists her heart belongs to Alex. "Alex has come in and injected Marlena with some serum" explains Hall. The duo is ready to move ahead just as Abe receives troubling news from the commissioner: If John breaks into the church, shoot to kill. Marlena proceeds down the aisle, as memories of John flash through her mind. "She's a 'flip-flopper'", explains Halls. "One moment Marlena has enourmous clarity about John and slight misgivings about Alex, the next she hasn't got a clue. She's sliding in and out of it." With Marlena 'out of it', John has no choice but to train his gun on Alex. Meanwhile, Shawn and Roman try desperately to stop John from committing murder, so that John isn't the day's something blue-in jail.

Wow all these sound great!!

The Alex story has really gotten better and all this sounds very suspenceful. I wonder if maybe Alex will fake his death or something or even kill himself to keep Marlean and John apart? Either way we know something huge happens at this thing. I alos think its funny how Kate separates all these couples for her children to be with people she wants them with but when it comes to getting the man she wants-John-she doesn't do anything out of loyalty to John and Marlena. I guess Kate does have a heart somewhere. Good to know Lexie,Abe, and Roman are in on this too.

The other stuff sounds great. The Bonnie/Mickey one is kinda interesting-wonder what that is about? Plus, Celeste is back next week. The spoilers for the following weel with Chelsea/Hope, Jen/Frankie, and John sound great. Looks like more Jen and Frankie coming up which is a good thing to get that story going with everything else.

Good stuff-thanks for posting :) .

    • It makes sense that she got a degree in directing. I've always said she should have been a director. I think she works better at the technical aspects of the show. I think her problem is the emotion/heart of a show.  She always guts the heart of the show she's on and she makes decisions that stop longtime viewers from watching a show. I don't think it's sexism to call that out especially as I've said similar things about Conboy. I've called out Rauch for much worse.
    • "Aunt Blanche" first appears toward the end of this episode, about 57 minutes in.

    • You're probably right. They may have just wanted edits of certain characters. Hopefully the rest is around.
    • Of course!

I'm wondering if there were bits cut from this footage, because to me it seems that may be the case. At 11:23, Laurie tells her psychiatrist that the bar phoned and told her Mark got into a fight and needs to be picked up. It starts to fade to the next scene, you hear some different music begin and get cut off between the static, and where you'd expect to see the aftermath of the fight, we cut back to a later scene of Laurie in bed worrying about what's happening. The credits at the end also show that more than Mark, Laurie and Dr. Northcote should have been in this episode. Another character, Brody, played by Ed Setrakian, is mentioned but not shown. If this is the case, perhaps the original fan who saved this episode has the additional scenes.
    • Anyway… It’s a shame that the video that depicted Leticia’s death was removed from YT.

    • Ms. Phelps holds a BFA in directing from Carnegie Mellon University, awarded in 1972. At a time when women were underrepresented in directing programs, she was one of the few women in her graduating class. To suggest that she possessed no further talents than completely changing the style of music used on soaps seems like a vast underestimate when one reads her online biography through an objective lens. I guess that I should be more clever than to constantly blame misogyny for these misguided interpretations of her management style.  But, I'll never comprehend why fans unquestionably align their opinions even years after fact. Post-modernism, and the ability to reinterpret context through the study of history, seems to elude this conversation.

    • This is 100% correct.  It was even on the nightly news where the US Government would not let the cast and crew travel to Egypt because it was deemed not safe.  The Achille Lauro hijacking took place on October 7, 1985, when the Italian ocean liner MS Achille Lauro was hijacked by four men representing the Palestine Liberation Front off the coast of Egypt, as she was sailing from Alexandria to Ashdod, Israel. The location shoot was probably scheduled to be filmed in mid-October to air throughout November with a two week tape to air date.  Remember on the show they did some in studio scenes doubling for Egypt before shifting the action to Arizona.  It was an awkward end to a truly bizarre storyline.
