DAYS: Insert episode added to schedule on 9/2/21

"DAYS" SCHEDULING UPDATE...

 

"Days" has inserted an episode on Thursday, September 2, a few days before "Beyond Salem" premieres on Peacock. After # 14169 airs on Wednesday, September 1, the insert episode, # 14422, will air on Thursday, September 2, followed by # 14170 on Friday, September 3. This pushes back all of the other episodes' originally-scheduled airdates by one day. Below is the revised airdate schedule for September-December:

Weird that it's numbered #14442? Surely they can't be almost a year ahead in scripting?

My guess is 14442 is the last episode of the current production year, so it would air around 8/31/22. Don't know why they made that decision, instead of calling it 14169A, which they did once when they had to insert an episode at the last second for Thanksgiving 1986.

I mean, I'm happy that it doesn't seem to mean that they're a year ahead in scripting at least. I do wonder if it'll potentially screw up with international broadcasts though - I guess I'll find out and see if it airs/streams here on time in November since we're around two months behind these days. For those purposes I'd assume it would be more efficient to call it 14169A.

My understanding is the episode directly ties into "Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem," which sets up the series itself based on the plot of the show itself.

Australia and Canada at least currently. I know in the past South Africa, Germany and England, but not sure if they are still airing it.

Corday Productions even filed a lawsuit against Sony recently (they have since dropped it). But the gist of the lawsuit was that Sony was doing very little to promote Days outside of the US or selling it to as many countries as they could be.  Sony is in charge of all the non-US areas for Days, so they decide where it airs.

Also, since you're a bit of a nerd about this viafree.se (Sweden) puts up five episodes of DAYS Mondays at 9am weekly. The recent batch of episodes are from July 2 to July 8. For whatever reason the episodes are numbered 14137-14441 instead of 14449-14453.

They also call it "Season 27", but that has to do with that they originally started airing the show with a four year delay in 1997 (so "season 1" are 1993-94).
