Me too

And I'm not caring for Jay Johnson return. It's coming off very flat.

I also have no idea why they make JKJ look like that. It's gross.

I can see what you mean. I'm happy to have him back but it has been kinda flat so far.

The problem is the storyline he's been given. It's a business power struggle story that Carlaviti is horrible at writing. His slick back hair look doesn't help. Jay is playing the same story that Freddie was before he left. Both for me are a snooze fest.

Carlivati doesn't know how to write business stories.

Yeah. I could care less about the business power struggle. I was all for Philip vs. Xander because of the actors but it's meh and I think having Sarah-fied Xander doesn't help.

I also think there's the issue that big business stories tend to require a bit of a budget to fly and they just tend to become laughable when the business people are fighting over is the size of a janitors closet.

Conducting important business meetings at HTS don't help. But even when Xander is at his office. We never see a secretary. Much less any other employees. It all falls flat.

Yes, and things like board meetings, proper board members that aren't necessarily a part of the main cast, other employees, the feel that it's an actual business that matters etc can't be made up from thin air. There's a reason why soaps of the past seemed to stay away from huge business storylines until the glitzy 80s - probably because it was hard to convey those things with a few sets. It's why I've said that it doesn't really matter who writes the show currently - there are inevitably at least some storylines that can't be pulled off with a shoe-string budget.

What we are currently getting is greasy haired men in ill-fitting suits fighting over a shell of a company in the Horton Town Square. It's not good.
