Massive icons like Aretha Franklin or Donna Summer will certainly continue to get their own threads when they pass, but I figured it might be worth having a place to honor lesser-known celebrities who have left us, especially because we can’t see status updates (which is where a lot of those announcements were made on here previously).

But the great actor Ian Holm has died at 88:

That's very sad at a young age. Too many celebrities are dropping down dead like flies too fast.

How many original cast members of The Cosby Show are left now?

If you count the main cast that was in the credits then everyone except for Malcolm is living. Earle Hyman and Clarice Taylor who recurred as the grandparents both passed on some time ago.

The Cosby Show was such a big part of my childhood. I am so shocked about Malcolm-Jamal Warner. RIP.

Oh my God!!

This news is just too shocking to be believed.  TCS played such an integral part in my childhood.  Not a Thursday evening went by without me and my family tuning in to see the entire family.

Jesus Christ, it's 2016 all over again.  RIP MJW, you will be SORELY missed.

It really does feel very 2016. These are HUGE, genre-defining icons leaving us.

It is all too much at once; they say things do come in threes, and we're getting multiples at this point.

My oldest of two brothers was a metalhead and loved Ozzy, so I knew of - and even liked - a few of his songs. No denying that he paved the way for the metal genre. (My other brother was into Rush, Triumph, and Tesla (no, not the cars!)...)

May Ozzy Osbourne RIP. God now has one heck of a chaotic angel on his hands.
