And Bergman looks so happy watching those older clips. It's like he knows just how much better the show was before.

 

A case of the daytime soap opera hastily embracing HD in an effort to be seen as being on the cutting edge.  Also, in broadcasting and technology, 'the soap opera effect' is used as a denigrating term.  Unfortunately, daytime soaps abandoned the visual effect, which for many of us, is one of the aspect that actually made the genre special.
