That's true in some cases (although my favorite shows managed to be strong for at least 4-5 seasons), but for me it is about the chilling effect. If I know a network is going to go after a show two seasons in, no matter what, I'm less likely to watch. And I feel like producers will burn themselves out very quickly if they know they are only likely to get two seasons. 

 

Then there's Netflix patting itself on the back endlessly for how special they are and how they don't do what other corporations do.

I agree. Netflix, like a lot of other Silicon Valley corporations, wants us to believe they are nobler than they actually are. It was great marketing, but it’s not reality, and people have being seeing that in the past couple of years.
