Where is the kitchen supposed to be? Mentally, I've always put it on the other side of the wall where the fireplace is. When people leave the living room to go to the kitchen now, they seem to walk out to the foyer and then turn left.

Yes, it is left of the living room when you walk through the foyer. There's a door you can see when they show the foyer. They used to use the kitchen frequently up until the mid-2000's, but did show it when Alice was dying in 2010, and again a couple years ago when JJ's pot brownies made their way to Adrienne and the rest of the book clubbers :)

Thanks! That's sort of where I've always mentally placed it. So I guess it IS adjacent to the dining room.

I loved how they used the kitchen again during the book club thing. Can we do THAT again?

Speaking of long-time sets, @JAS0N47 when was the final time the Penthouse Grille was used?  The last time I can think of was around summer of 2004 when Lucas proposed to Sami.

It was last used 4 times in March 2007: 3/12, 3/13, 3/16 and 3/21.

I could have sworn it was used the first or second week of April.

Thanks for clarifying! Can't remember the storyline at the time, I just remember it was around this time that the vets weren't being used and John was in a coma or something. Instead, we had Willow the blowfish hooker and a bunch of other nonsense, most likely involving EJ or Chelsea, etc.

Sami and Celeste plotted to kill EJ. I know in one of those last episodes that featured Penthouse Grille EJ was taunting Celeste about Lexie's disappearance. And of course there was Shawn and Belle hiding on Tinda Lao from Philip.

I have Chez Rouge listed for the second week of April.

I love the Horton house set and hope they never retire it. The house is a colonial style (My favorite style of house). I noticed the other day they have the clock face on the mantel fogged out now. In the older episode I have seen, the original sofa was more plush and full size. Over the years they have replaced it with a love seat. I wonder if Tom's chair is the original one from 1965 ?

Great find, @Paul Raven!  So it's off to the left side of the living room, beyond Tom's chair. I'll have to check my DAYS book, A Tour Through Salem, the one they published around '98 and see if they included that in the "blueprints" they show of everyone's homes.

Kind of reminds me of B&B's Forrester mansion or Y&R's Newman ranch that would suddenly expand and have a space off to the side for their dining room during the holidays.

One thing that is a tip off that it is a add on set is the doors going into the dining room are different than the other interior doors in the Horton house.
