In 1975, John Aniston took on his first contract role on a soap with the role of Eddie Aleata on Love of Life. (He had previously played Eric Richards on Days in the late 60's)During that time he married his co-star Sherry Rooney (Dory Patten) After 3 years,he moved onto the role of Martin Tourneur on Search for Tomorrow working with daytime legend Mary Stuart, which he played until 1984.In 85,came the role of Victor Kiriakis, which he has played ever since.

Any thoughts or comments on the actor?

I know next to nothing about his earlier roles.  But Victor was one of the great bastards of all soaps.  I remember him tormenting Kim and Shane, and his attempts to ge close to Bo.  I loved the twisted Bo/Carly/Victor story, and enjoyed him through Deborah Adair as Kate.  Then Reilly clearly didn't want to write for him, and he drifted.  I enjoy his smartass comments now, but he's not the menace he was.  It might be interesting to let him be truly bad again.

I think he's great.  He has a very real yet entertaining quality to his grouchiness and wisecracks, and not many characters get to play perpetual disdain.   There is just about nobody Victor has any use for, and that is what makes him funny.  He also delivers his cracks in a way of speaking you can totally sympathize with and understand his eye rolling at everyone--if not at his target then at someone you personally know and feel about them the way Victor feels about Carly, Chloe, whoever.

Has he ever acted in anything outside of soaps?  I feel he would have made a good character actor as a shady lawyer or businessman, and I honestly think he has a flair for comedy they don't really use.

I don't really know what's going on with Victor these days.....but I always enjoyed his relationship with Nicole and the marriage from hell they had....watching old clips, he was so cruel to her....I think he was probably meaner then Victor Newman those years.....but it was deliciously entertaining....Him and Ari Zucker had great comedic timing together.

John Aniston/ Victor has always been one of my favourites. I concur with the above posts that his relationships with Kate and Nicole were always facinating to watch. I'm a huge Louise Sorel/Vivian fan, but her desperation for Victor and Victor's disdain for Vivian grew old very quickly for me.

    • Correction, Chicago Hope 1994/95 was initially Thursday 9 pm, a CBS dead zone and head-to-head w/ Seinfeld. 1994/95 CBS Thursday 10 pm initially was Eye to Eye with Connie Chung. Later in the season CBS did a scheduling shift with Chicago Hope moving to Monday 10 pm, Eye to Eye with Connie Chung moving to Thursday 9 pm, and 48 Hours moving from Wednesday 10 pm to Thursday 10 pm.

    • A--I wish someone would post a better vid of the entire ball, as it must be out there. And B--nope. Evie is only in a small segment of the ball with Phillip, Rick and Mindy. She doesn't dance at all. Ross dances with Helena and Amanda. I'm not even sure why Evie is at the ball---Vanessa heartily disliked her. I did see that Billy actually asked Henry to introduce him to Vanessa, which I hadn't realized.
    • Honestly, they should've ordered more of 2000 Malibu Road for the 1992-93 midseason and aired it when Knots went on a break. That was probably their best shot.    Then of course they fumbled Central Park West by airing it in the 9PM slot instead of a 10PM slot where it would've been away from the Fox dramas. CPW got its best rating by airing randomly on a Sunday and when it was taken off the air for a "re-tooling", Party of Five's ratings actually had a spike, so clearly they were feeding off each other. But being a smaller network focused on a certain demographic, Fox could afford to be patient Party of Five, CBS couldn't...
    • Agree on Bruce Gray as Owen; they needed to cast star power. He was too lightweight against Kim and he had no chemistry with Frances Fischer except more gay buddy or daddy figure.  I loved Nola and Eliot together though. Lee Godart should have been longer term.
    • Andre has the worst fashion of the males which is off putting for someone as fine as he is. His jackets and sweaters look dated and no vintage does not work for him
    • I don’t recall MSW having a toy line in the late 80’s or early 90’s like all those Saturday morning cartoons did LOL but thought this was cute when I saw it in a vintage toy store yesterday:

    • Copying and pasting pasting this here as to not to derail the KL thread lol Wow I forgot CBS actually did try multiple attempts to come up with a soapy replacement for Knots on Thursday nights in the 10/9 slots for the 93-94 season.   Angel Falls had promise but CBS didn’t give it a fair chance. Latham’s Second Chances got even worse ratings than Angel Falls and wasn’t given a second chance when the Northridge quake destroyed the show’s sets. One West Waikiki looked gorgeous but was a blink you missed it affair. Finally we got Hotel Malibu, a quasi follow-up to Second Chances that stayed as the summer replacement series it was. CBS switched gears and had Chicago Hope air in the slot…against ER. It made the Top 30 but obviously underperformed below expectations. CBS gave up, and gave us 48 Hours for years there. It wasn’t until the 2002-03 season when CBS finally produced a Top 20 show for that spot with Without A Trace against an aging ER.
