Days - Fan Favorite returns?

I don't think it makes sense to recast. Days is in trouble and if the premise is the newbies are not working out then you have to turn to some oldies to carry the show until you have new newbies. Years ago, maybe it was during the Sheffer debacle, Days took a cast hit and it seemed like suddenly half the cast was gone (Jack and Jennifer, the Lockharts, I want to say Billie left around this time too but I could be getting confused, this might have been the period when that dumb airline story ended and that whole crew left. Anyway, the show suddenly became all about Sami and Celeste of all people on every day trying to figure something out about EJ or somebody, I think their only other story was Shawn and Belle on that silly Island with the old coot in the hotel. The show needed time to settle down and introduce stuff like the sorority and campus rapist which led to the blonde girl's father which left to Stefano vs Victor. But they needed Sami, Celeste and whoever else to carry the show while they introduced new people.

To recast Bo does literally nothing since all you wind up is some strange guy loved by literally no one in the audience being on all the time. How does that fill seats in the audience?

This plus a million likes.

Speaking of someone who wants to see Peter back on Days and Bo back with Hope, there's one thing hanging over Days' head that makes the difference. If Days doesn't do something to get these numbers up, the show may not live to see its 51st birthday.

Does this mean you have to reunite all the supercouples? Well, yes and no. You can bring back Bo but also bring back Belle without Shawn. Maybe Shawn doesn't want to come back to Salem because he thought Bo "abandoned the family" and Hope moved on too quickly? Maybe Belle's marriage to Shawn suffered because of it? Where has Jack been? Patch? Were they all held captive?

When you've established some of the fan favorites back on the canvas, that's when you bring in new characters to play off of the old fan favorites and start crafting new stories. That's how it was done in the past. Instead, TomSell felt the need to stick a giant middle "F-U" finger in the air at the long-time fans. Their message was we're creating all these new characters and never bringing back the favorites we all loved. The longtime fans' response was to desert the show in droves.

I'm back partially as a viewer, but it will take a lot more than that to get me to return full time. I know others will agree or disagree, just wanted to put my opinion out there. :)

    • I am not Jason, but I shared your confusion.  I thought Shawn mentioned he had to get on a flight to see Bo a few days ago.  If he was just in Salem this whole time Shawn could have easily stopped by as could everyone else that was super concerned.  I don't think they would move someone in that dire condition on a plane or anything, so it seems like a continuity error IMO.
    • He should be scary when it matters, like trying to keep that psycho away from his family.    SO yeah this Ted should be intimidating and scary when it's needed
    • As much as I love JJ and Lucky I don't think he should be able to make that call. I don't really think I needed to hear Eden McCoy sing some weird auto tuned ballad with Trina today instead. Carly's shake it off speech to Lulu was funny.  "JOSS is singing!!" Get your priorities straight Lesley Lu lol
    • There were two actors who played Wally. I wonder which one it was. TBH, from what I remember of the storyline and the character, either could have done this. It was a thankless role. Devon couldn't stand sleeping with him, so she would fantasize about making love to bad-boy Sean while they were doing it. Then he'd be all, "WOW, that was GREAT! Whatever you were thinking, keep doing it!" That had to shred any actor's ego, LOL. The second Wally was paired with Betsy Kennicott for a while. If you thought Devon and Wally were dull, that's nothing compared to Betsy and Wally.
    • I appreciate the clarity. May I presume that indicates you shared my confusion?
    • I confirmed with the show today that Bo's Hospital Room is in Salem, so they were all in Salem today.
    • Alex Neil also showed up at Search for Tomorrow after Texas. I think she was on in 1984 in the storyline involving Sunny's rape.
    • I only watched from 2001- onward Live. I will see what early years I can find on the web. Thanks again.
    • I wonder what went on there. Liz has been at a number of Nurses Balls even in the Valentini years, although I don't remember if she was at the last one. You'd think Lucky singing would be a no-brainer, and he has sung once or twice since his return. Maybe Jonathan didn't want to be involved in all that lengthy taping.
    •   I think one of the things that Nicole loved about Ted was that he was commanding but only in a kind way, like her father Vernon.   We the viewers saw another side of him when he gave Leslie the 50 grand to leave town.  Maurice's Ted could get angry, but Ted was never scary.  I don't think Nicole would have married a scary person, even if the scariness was hidden. I appreciate the nuTed trying to reason with crazy Leslie -- obviously it's pointless to try to reason with a sociopath, but he thinks he can.  Or he thinks mild threats would work. In my view, Leslie is scary, and Ted is not, and that contrast is supposed to be there. Bill has done scary things, but not Ted.
