I never found him all that entertaining. I had really wished we would have had Joan Rivers on late night for all these years. That's the way it should have been.

I'm really going to miss him, regardless of how long it's been since he really cared to be there. I truly hope his mom, despite her older age now, will make a final appearance on the show, too.

I hope there's an official handoff to Stephen Colbert. I'd love it if the made Colbert re-enact classic Letterman bits like the velcro suit or throwing things off the roof.

I probably dated myself big time with that.

Never my cup of tea, but definitely a late-night televison staple. And another television figure from my childhood retires... :) sigh
