The SON baby

  • Members

Just a little thread to keep the people interested informed about the SON baby. :-) I'm 13 weeks along and due on April 8th. I had the new genetic testing (MaterniT21) done because I'm over 35. It's just a simple blood draw, that's less invasive than an amnio. Luckily, is well on that front.

You can also find out the gender of the baby with this new test. I'm having a boy. I'm a little nervous about that, since I guess being a woman I just feel like I have more of a sense of how to parent a girl, but I guess I'll figure it out.

Thanks to the people who've asked about how I'm feeling and who have wished us well. I really appreciate it. I'm feeling pretty good now that I'm out of the first trimester. Still a little tired, but I was lucky and didn't have terrible morning sickness. Mostly what I'm hoping for is things to stay uneventful for the next six months.

If anyone has name ideas, I'm open to suggestions. Right now, Elijah is in the running.

I'm so sorry it took me so long to get in here! CONGRATS, Julia! I'm so happy your pregnancy is going so well smile.png .

Elijah was actually the name of my brother's pet turtle smile.png .

This thread is sort of like a months-long baby shower.

I like Ben but Samuel somehow feels just right for your baby. Glad you're doing well by the way!

Thank you and I agree it's a lot like a baby shower. smile.png Thank you to everyone who's attended.

The anatomy scan went very well. Everything looks normal and the baby is in the 70% percentile for growth. It's really a huge relief to know that the heart and spine are developing normally. Next appointment is December 18th.

Just a quick update. I'm 26 weeks and all is well. I'm still in the happy part of pregnancy and I can feel the baby kick a lot, which is really nice. Just 14 weeks left. Hope everyone is having a great holiday!

As someone who was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, I'm hoping you are well and don't have gestational diabetes. I continue to keep you in my thoughts...as well as SoapBoy!

Thank you Slick. I'm sorry to hear that you have type 2. I hope you have an easy time adjusting. Seeing your message made me check my phone and sure enough a message from the doctor telling me I failed the 1 hour glucose test. I was at 150 and they want to see people have a number under 131.

Now I have to go to the hospital on Wednesday and take a three hour glucose challenge. If I fail this one I officially have GD.

It's been about 7 months, and my blood sugars very rarely top 120. My sister was diagnosed 25 years ago, so I've been around it so long. I never thought I could do the needles, but I took to it quick. My best friend always asks about you(she got pregnant at the same time). She is doing well also. She is on bed rest(she's 48 and nervous) and at least once a week she asks me about her "fellow mom to be". I'll update her later. tongue.pngtongue.pngtongue.png Have a great day, and good luck 2moro!

You & BABY SPENCE are in my thoughts, Juliajms. My sister went through GDB with all three of her children! I think you will both be ok no matter what happens! Hang in there ;'-))

I'm glad to here that you've adjusted so well. Please tell your friend I hope she is feeling ok. Bed rest must be so hard.

Thank you so much. It's good to hear your sister navigated it successfully three times. I should know by Thursday where I stand.

Thinking of you and sending prayers, Julia! It'll all be okay! smile.pngwub.png

Thanks Mr. Vixen. I got the call from the doctor today and I do have GD. I suspected during the three hour test that I would fail. I really felt like hell after drinking the glucola. I'm a little bummed, but it's the kind of thing you just have to suck up and deal with it. I have to go next week and get the diet plan and the blood sugar meter.

Aw, I'm sorry Jules. This is something you can throw in baby Marcel's face when he acts up. ("Did you know I gave up candy for THREE MONTHS just to bring you into this world?!")
