Yeah, this  year has not started out strong.   I like the addition of Jay and Earth 2 but the new romantic interest is just too cute and quirky.  I don't care about Iris' mother and FFed her every scene,   The new Firestorm was introduced rather abruptly and I don't know, am I supposed to automatically be interested in him because he is now Firestorm?   With Ronnie they at least laid some groundwork.

Arrow is off to a much stronger start.

So...the man in the mask is the real Jay Garrick? And Zoom is somehow managing to impersonate him and be in two places at once? I mean, why would Zoom bother to hide the prisoner's identity if it wasn't because he was impersonating Garrick? The old "prisoner 5x5 code" was a huge tip off, not to mention, I swear in one shot you saw the back of the prisoner's neck, and the hair color looked the same.

That also means that Caitlin's probably "healing" him with the Vector9 serum, thus endangering them all.

No, Jay Garrick is a total hero in Flash lore and I can't see the show changing that.   I think the real clue is despite Zoom being from Earth 2 his costume is a modified version of Barry's Earth 1 costume.  I am tempted to say Zoom is the so far unseen Jay Garrick from Earth 1.  Everyone has a counterpart but he doesn't seem to unless he appeared in one of the few episodes I missed.  So Zoom could be a Jay Garrick or this prisoner could be the other Jay Garrick but that seems unlikely,.   Other than Barry everyone's counterpart has been opposite, so it might stand to reason Jay's is too.   Another solid episode.

I think I need to clarify---I think the prisoner in the mask is the real Earth2 Jay Garrick. And Zoom is impersonating him to the gang on Earth 1.  There's no real reason for Zoom to put a mask over the prisoner's face unless it's someone everyone would recognize. PrisonerX is in this super secret local with only Jesse to see him. "Jay" did show Caitlin the supposed Earth1 "Jay Garrick", because she thought they could use him to try and regenerate Jay's damaged cells. "Jay" told her that Earth1's "Jay Garrick" had been adopted and has a different name and is a professor or teacher or something.

What I don't know is how Zoom might have been in two places at once, if Zoom and "Jay" were ever in the same place at the same time. There was that thing in Season 1 when the team thought they had captured ReverseFlash, but it was just a hologram or something---but I don't remember the deets. (oy, this "science" is a lot more confusing that ST:TNG's ever was. Although maybe I just don't care enough to try and keep it straight.)

Ok, so I have to have a new theory since clearly I was wrong.   Earth 3 maybe, or evil Zoom Jay is from 1000 years in the future.  Barry will prevent Jay from doing whatever it was that turned him evil, and Zoom will never exist.    The man in the iron mask could be Jay as well plucked from another point in the timestream,

    • Ted has been too-good-to-be-true-on-the-surface guy from the get go. It's always these guys that end up having a secret mistress with 2 children on the side or are secretly bisexual and sleeping with men while they wifey thinks she is living the dream. Even the way Dani was talking about them in the beginning... I knew it was coming. The show was hinting at it. And it came.  I have nothing against the show writing a second affair, when it's used to present this exact type of message. That the two sisters end up dealing with a similar catastrophe. I would have had problems with it... if it was not written the way it is. But I have no problems with it right now. And I love how the focus is not just on the affair, but on Ted's overall character. His dark side. And, no, you don't need to be a serial killer or a lunatic with a knife to be a bad guy. Sometimes just making bad decisions that end up hurting your entire family makes you that.
    • Oh, really? I didn't see that at all. Ted's only been loving and supportive, even with this reveal I still haven't seen anything too dark from him. Shitty father and husband, sure. My one nitpick is that they could have accomplished that without having another affair though.
    • Remember post-ATWT how Brooke Alexander was in eight million commercials and home improvement shows?  She was the epitome of a millennial consumer surrogate. Meanwhile, Kelly Menighan worked the heck out of the short hairdo for years, and never got a beauty contract.  TBH, her whole vibe gave Midwest suburbs, as interpreted through the eyes of a Manhattan costume department with a network budget for designer goods. She was definitely sophisticated given her limited access to shopping at Lisa's Boutique in Oakdale.

    • Absolutely agree. Nicole's reaction to Ted, and Kat's reaction to Eva, will be interesting.
    • One tiny problem. Apparently she just inked a new deal. All it means, though, is that they will want to get some mileage out of her before they implement the DRW50 Master Plan. What do ya think? 6 months too short? 3 years def too long. A year and a half?
    • Your haughtiness amuses me in return. Like you think you know ALL?
    • I've seen this error before. I think it should be okay in the future.

    • Ted has been icky and giving off bad guy vibe from the first moment I saw him. I have a sensor for that and it was beeping! So...don't put all the blame on Silkpress. The woman needs a good psychiatrist, true... but Leslie is just one of the skeletons in HIS closet. Ted is even a bigger monster, because he's hidden.  IT WAS A PERFECT REVEAL. Perfect, because in the beginning of the show... Dani was envying her sister's marriage... In these first few messy weeks... her own misery and life spiraling was contrasted to the picture-perfect marriage Nicole and Ted seemed to have. (on first glance). What happened now... is very very smart writing. THIS IS THE MOMENT THE MASKS ARE FALLING! The message it delivers to me is this. It says - no matter how things look... they are not what they seem. You can't judge a marriage by how it appears to be. Aaaand in the long run... maybe the messiest-looking people (Dani Dupree, I'm talking about you!) HAVE less issues and problems than the ones that seem to have it all. The ones with the MOST skeletons in the closets and the dirty pasts.   It was an AHA moment for the whole family and the viewers and a way forward for Dani and Nicole to bond even more and realize they are MORE alike than they are different. Now it will be quite a different dynamic, because Dani will have to SUPPORT someone and not be the one getting her wounds licked always. And also another lesson. Some men are dogs. Not all of them. But a lot of them are. The difference is... some can't be easily recognized. These creeps have put very impressive masks. The show is doing this perfectly. Beat by beat. Exploring classic soap opera themes and stories. Real-life characters and situations, that are relatable and make you think... Hmm... maybe I need to dig a little deeper next time I say "these people are perfect" or otherwise. Maybe I need to think MORE. That type of storytelling. It's not easy to do that.  Brava BTG.  B-R-A-V-A!
