February 11, 201411 yr Author Administrator Two more golds for Canada - Alex Bilodeau in moguls and Charles Hamelin in 1500 metres! And a silver in moguls. So glad to see Canada doing so well early on. It's so awesome to see Canada so confident again and building on Vancouver. Let's keep it up!!
February 11, 201411 yr Author Administrator Two more medals for Canada, in women's ski slopes. Dara Howell wins gold and Kim Lamarre wins bronze. Dara's first run in the finals was amazing (the backwards landing)! Very cool stuff.

February 11, 201411 yr Member Gold number four for Germany in women's ski jumping. It's finally getting better after the disappointing first two days of the Olympics.
February 12, 201411 yr Member I can't stand Bob Costas and have to admit that I laughed at his pink eye and all the tweets joking about it, but Gawd, Matt Lauer looks like he needs a good scrubbing and grooming. I will take Costas over him any day. The Russian pair were wonderful. i like the Germans too. Edited February 12, 201411 yr by Ann_SS

February 13, 201411 yr Author Administrator The Gilmore Junio/Denny Morrison story is so good! http://www.calgarysun.com/2014/02/12/selfless-calgary-speed-skater-gilmore-junio-allows-team-canada-to-strike-silver-at-sochi-olympics Regrets, he’s had a few. But Gilmore Junio says any pang of remorse he felt watching a teammate compete in his stead vanished soon after Denny Morrison crossed the finish line, in a time that earned the Canadian a silver medal. “There might have been a thought about how cool it would have been to get an Olympic medal, but at the end of the day, I know I wouldn’t have come close,” laughs Junio. “I’ve been joking that for me a top 16 finish would have been generous.” Still, it has to be an emotional sacrifice for any Olympian, to walk away from the place you’ve rightfully earned after a lifetime of dreams, all so another athlete can take your place. But Junio says the seed was planted the moment he qualified for men’s 1,000-metre speedskating, after Morrison took an untimely spill on the ice — a fall that kept the Olympic veteran and past world champion off the roster for his best event. Junio was already headed to Sochi, Russia to compete in the 500-metre race (he placed 10th on Monday), and to be skating the 1,000 instead of Morrison felt wrong. So when a coach approached him after the 500, asking if he’d consider stepping aside so Morrison, as alternate, could take his place, the 23-year-old Calgary didn’t hesitate. “Denny deserved to be there, and it was an unfortunate event at the trials that prevented him from being chosen first — so when the decision had to be made, it was a no-brainer,” said Junio, speaking to the Sun from Russia. “At the end of the day, I want to see Canada win medals.” Junio says it was left to him to decide, and he knew the right thing to do was to step aside. But then, when he texted Morrison from a Russian cell phone, “Are you ready for the 1000 metres, yea or nay?” the recipient assumed it was a prank. “He thought it was someone playing a joke, so he came over to Canada Olympic House to find me and hear it in person,” said Junio. “When I told him he was so pumped and excited — I think he could have raced it right then.”
February 13, 201411 yr Member Awww, Evgeni Plushenko is injured and cannot skate in the men's individual event.
February 13, 201411 yr Member Was so great to see the US men sweep the Slopestyle Skiing. I was especially happy that Joss Christensen got the gold. He so deserved it. Coming in, the media, etc wrote him off, since he was the worst ranked of the 4 Americans. Wasn't even supposed to get to final let alone medal. But he showed them all. Only competitor to have four of his runs above 90 and 3 of his 4 runs were the highest scoring. Talk about picking the right time to peak.
February 14, 201411 yr Member Yuzuru Hanyu needs to win that gold medal tomorrow. He's phenomenal, and was outstanding in both the team event and in his individual short program. I kind of feel bad for Patrick Chan, being the World Champion and favourite going into the Olympics. He could still squeeze out a gold tomorrow, but if Hanyu continues to skate the way he does, Chan doesn't have a chance.
February 14, 201411 yr Member Meredith Viera is hosting NBC's Olympic coverage tonight, first woman. Thank goodness, someone who looks well groomed.
February 14, 201411 yr Member Wow, the men's individual long ice skating programs have not been good. I miss Plushenko.
