From daysofourlives.about.com

Here's the latest Days of Our Lives comings and goings casting news.

Tyler Sellers begins a recurring role as Brent on July 2. The character is an old friend of Sonny's who comes to Salem for a visit. Fret not Wilson fans. The guy won't pose a romantic threat to Will/Sonny. However, he will have an affect on their relationship.
Jen Lilley (ex-Maxie, General Hospital) makes her long awaited debut this week as a mysterious new girl in town named Theresa. Her first air date is July 3, and she shares scenes with Casey Moss (JJ). As previously reported, her character is slated to be a major bad girl.

After a long absence, Brendon Coughlin returns as Will's pal T. He's back in time for Salem's July 4th celebration.

Laura Kai Chen has begun a stint as special prosecutor Melinda Trask. She'll continue to appear on the show as Sami awaits her fate in the Bernardi murder investigation.

Elizabeth Roberts is portraying Bernardi's widow Marge. Roberts may look familiar to soap fans. She played Sally Hightower on The Young and the Restless back in 2010.

JJ's pals Cole and Bev are being played by Riley Bodenstsab and Allison Paige, respectively. This is Paige's second time on Days. Back in 2008, she recurred as Jill.

Yay! T's back!

Elizabeth Roberts has been fun as Bernardi's widow.

I'm not a big fan of these names they are giving characters. Marge? And Theresa for Jenn Lilley? I don't see her as a Theresa at all. JMO, lol. It's a minor gripe. Looking forward to FINALLY seeing Jenn Lilley!

Thanks for posting John!

If Chandler leaves, Days is not recasting Will. http://michaelfairmansoaps.com/days-of-our-lives/the-ken-corday-interview-days-of-our-lives/2013/07/02/

I know Chandler Massey is leaving in December at the end of his contract. Can you talk about what a huge contribution he has made to Days of our Lives as Will Horton?

KEN:

Chandler is a natural, first of all. He plays that character so well as a conflicted man having to go through all the things he went through with his family. And to his credit, he has had a wonderful, wonderful co-star in Freddie Smith, who plays Sonny. It was a perfect storm – a great story idea, a great actor who was able to do it. Chandler deserves all the kudos he has gotten, and it was a well-deserved Emmy this second time around. I wish he would stay. I keep telling him to change his mind, don’t go away. But there comes a time in every young actor’s life when they are pretty much at the top of their game, or getting there, and they to have to take time for themselves to figure out what’s next. I take my hat off to him. The door will always be open here to Chandler. We are not going to recast Will, but I wish him well in the big pond.

Given that KC speaks of how well FS & CM are together, I wont be surprised if CM does leave that FS will exit with him as Sonny.

It's a shame they won't recast the role. The role can easily be recasted. Chandler is replaceable...he is hot and all and just an ok actor. We havent heard anything about FS leaving though....so I dont see Sonny leaving the canvas.

    • I forget that throughout the 80’s the TV seasons were officially over in April. Not sure why that was the case but it wasn’t until the mid-90’s that May Sweeps became a real official thing.
    • Jon Lindstrom proved with Ryan Chamberlain on GH that he can play menacing and evil. He's not doing it here, and I think it's a combination of writing and performance.   To be fair, Longoria has modeled and has represented major companies like L'Oreal, but she was never a runway model. I don't have any problem with seeing Dani as a runway model. I think it's more than possible, and I don't understand anyone criticizing her look. I actually have a bigger problem with the whole "Anita is an EGOT" thing. I think it goes way too far. Give her a Grammy. Say she was nominated for a Tony, or even won. But an EGOT winner? No.   The fact that you're using DAYS to defend a BTG set is telling, since we all know DAYS is poverty level soapdom. I expect so much more and better from Gates.     I can't help it, but I'm LOL at the people defending that backroom bingo hall casino and making excuses for it. It's hilariously bad.
    • If NBC could have for seen the ratings of Lovers & Friends (the replacement for Somerset).. they would have for sure kept Somerset on the air longer. https://jason47.com/days/ratings1976.html  (ratings for Somerset in the final year) https://jason47.com/days/ratings1977.html (ratings for Lovers & Friends short run...getting as low as a 2 rating).

    • I liked them, too, and was really disappointed it never went anywhere. The whole art theft story was ridiculous, but they had a nice chemistry. Certainly nicer than Alan with Christine. With her, he looked like the funny uncle. The worst thing they did to Bolger, IMO, was having Phillip write that DREADFUL novel and dramatizing it while he wrote it. GAG, that has to be in the running for one of their worst storylines that didn't involve wacky things like clones or time travel. Soaps rarely do school storylines, or don't do them for very long. Not the case so much in the early days of soaps, but after GH took off in the late 70s other soaps took their lead and would catapult teens/young adults into adult stories right away. That's one reason Phillip and Mindy ended up with so many ex-spouses--they started getting married really young. They shipped Dina and Cameron off really fast after high school and stuck Alan Michael in a marriage storyline with Harley. Did he EVER go to college? I don't think so. It may also partly explain why Quint and Annabelle had to go, beyond TPTB wanting to do a cast sweep. Teaching is not a profession that plays well on a soap. Quint definitely had to quit being Indiana Jones, because that wore thin really fast, but they didn't do him favors by making him a professor. If they wanted to keep him, they should have done what they did with Amanda (who was in another dead-end soap job, concert pianist)--have him work at Spaulding as one of the major stockholders.
    • Judith McConnell (Augusta) and Denise Alexander (Lesley) were great screen partners on GH.  They got into some stellar arguments in character in the medicine room.
    • He also commented that Brad knows that fans are sick of the constant fake deaths on this show: Finn, Sheila, etc and that it's hard to take this seriously if it's another fake death

    • I just don't think Brad Bell has it in him to actually kill off Liam. He should have killed off Eric when he had the chance. I know John McCook is an original cast member, but Eric is even more useless than Liam. Eric should have died and then it would be revealed that he died without a valid will, so Donna, as his wife, inherits everything, including his shares in Forrester Creations.
