OLTL: The Prospect Park Era (old production thread)

Agreed. Even when I don't like Roger's stories, at least he gives it his full attention this time. He didn't used to which is what killed the finale of the baby swap on OLTL in 2002. This time around - and on OLTL - he did.

Trevor is talented, and very internal in his process - he always was - and while I have issues with how he cruised and shut down onscreen I think the show would be well served having him back because he was very popular with a lot of the audience. Seeing him for maybe two minutes in the sci-fi pic Dark Skies a few weeks ago on the big screen showed that he's still startlingly handsome and was - shockingly - very appealing playing someone who was not a relentless !@#$%^&*]. The issue with his "Todd" for me became that he was clearly bored with the material and decided he just wouldn't play any pathos, or dimension or redeeming values. He'd play whatever he felt like, and most of the time in his later years that seemed like all he wanted to play was an unrepentant sociopath. Even in wedding scenes, love scenes, family stuff he'd toss it off and smirk at it because he felt his character was a monster. Well, that's very honest about the two Todds in a lot of ways IRL, and very nice if you're playing a character in a film or a play who's not long-running on a daily serialized program, but that's not who the Lord brothers are. They are long-running characters on a daily serial. They do have pathos, dimensions - that's how both of these men got their longevity. There's supposed to be a heart there and the writers have been writing for it for over 20 years. He can disagree with that if he wants to on his own time, but he can at least put in an effort to convey the character's heart and soul again. That's what he did early on, before he got bored the way Roger used to be very bored. The trick is balancing the "monster" with something human, the place the audience has always wanted to tap into.

I hope if he does come back - which I think would be good for the show - that he comes back reinvigorated and willing to reinvent the character. Because Victor Lord Jr. should be a clean slate open to anything. Not just "the other Todd".

I'm a day late- I know OLTL began production yesterday - but CONGRATULATIONS to the One Life to Live family for fighting to keep the show alive and for being back in production!! Looking forward to the new advancements that both AMC and One Life are going to create as they march into uncharted territory of the online medium for our soaps. Here's to the most propsorous and thriving outcome possible for our soap opera genre. Congrats One Life to Live!

A little perturbed to notice that I think Erika is wearing almost exactly one of Viki's old outfits. Not that I mind that, because not of all the wardrobe was bad on ABC and Susan Gammie is the veteran wardrobe person for OLTL. But after all the class and flash for the promotion, I hope they do have some exciting new clothes.
