I remember him on Sweet Valley High! Honestly, anyone is an improvement over Jacob Young, I know much of JR's problem was their inability to let him grow but hopefully they'll rectify that and not write him as a pre-adolescent anymore.

ETA: I just tried to watch that scene AllMyDays posted from AMC and I'm reminded how terminally boring the show was at the time...so dull.
