I'm so wrong. After seeing the first official spoiler. My ideas on this have changed. AMC is going to be good.

So good.

I really cannot wait till it and OLTL are back!!!

Well the fact that you admitted it means that maybe I should stop bugging you about your previous announcements that you would never watch ;)

So the show is defiantly getting an opening? With 30 minutes, and a lower budget, I just assumed they'd have a 3 second title card

Not at all--nobody has any idea.

I wonder. My imagination goes to several possibilities.

Here are PP's Royal Pains opening credits:

I could imagine something similar for either show, especially if you swapped out those nice wide shots of Manhattan and the country club for Pine Valley or Llanview (Harrisburg bridges).

Obviously, this is obvious--but I'm sure RP has a bigger budget and is on basic cable. Not sure if they'd invest as much for an opening in this case.

Netflix's House of Cards has gone with a rather lengthy opening with no cast shots akin to premium cable series. They could have easily gone with a title card, but instead, we get Capitol circa 2013:

Except, House of Cards is trying to prove that they're the same as an HBO show. Those shows are known for having gorgeous, thematic based opening sequences (at least the dramas are) so it was important for Netflix to have a similar one. I don't think that applies here... Although I admit a simple title card might make it look cheap--and PP does want people to think (realize?) that they are not cheaping out here.

See I don't think that a title card comes across as cheap because it's become so common in primetime. If there's still a hope that these shows could be broadcast on cable then I think simpler is better. Frankly I think they would be wise to stay away from an opening that features faces just because that'll be easier to maintain and update. I'm not sure how contracts work on these shows since we've heard so many different things (one year contracts, everyone's recurring, etc..) but I'm speculating that between the contracts and the 5 on/ 5 off taping schedule there will be more flexibility for the actors to come and go. A more streamlined opening might be better.

Regardless, I'm just grateful that we won't have to deal with inanity like the bumpers each show had at the end. Those just worked my nerves.

What do yall mean when you say title card? See, when I hear "title card," I think of a black screen with "All My Children" neatly displayed in white, Arial font. Would it really cost them an arm and a leg to do a short 20-second sequence of something?

You mentioned Brotha Ray singing to the ladies of Designing Women the other day, so I'll use their season 7 title card as an example:

When I say title card I mean something like LOST or The Good Wife.
