Recent "Days" fans may not know this, but, 25 years ago this week, long-time television icon Betty White made two cameo appearances on "Days of Our Lives" in January 1988. Now 91, White is still as busy as ever starring in two TV series, "Hot in Cleveland" and "Betty White's Off Their Rockers." 25 years ago, NBC ran a "Where's Betty?" contest, which had daytime fans count the number of appearances she made on "Days", "Another World" and "Santa Barbara" during the week of January 25-29, 1988. Betty ended up appearing in two episodes of "Days" (although there seems to be a mystery THIRD scene cut)! Betty White's third role of Brenda was probably filmed for Another World. On AW she played Brenda, an old girlfriend of Mac Cory. She appeared on one episode of AW.

I guess it would save her time having to fly out to New York. Would they have used the Days set & crew for an AW scene?? And was Trent Dolan playing Mac (which he is listed as)...didn't think he did?

Trent Dolan might have been a stand-in that was used on the DAYS set to read the lines that were spoken by Douglass Watson on AW. They probably edited out Dolan 's part of the phone conversation and edited in Watson.

Hmm...could be. The names Brenda and Mac do match up. But, they most always tape phone calls separately (nowadays even on different days), so I don't know why Trent would have been hired to read Mac's lines. They would normally just tape the Mac scene by itself, and then later the Brenda scene, and then just splice them together in editing.

But thanks for the info. It does all fit, just wondering why it was done that way.
