HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Member

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

I was just going to post it:

Dear Friends,

We did it!!

Here is the statement I am about to release to the press.

I am so pleased to share it with YOU first. This could never have happened without your unwavering support.

With deepest gratitude,

... Agnes

************************************************************

We of the One Life to Live and All My Children families are thrilled to bring our beloved viewers new, ongoing stories from Llanview and Pine Valley.

I’m overjoyed that so many actors you love have voiced their desire to bring their characters back to life.

I’m especially grateful to Prospect Park for deploying the power of you, our fans, to enable this exciting transition to dramatic production for the Internet. It's a historic moment, comparable to how life was changed when television took over from radio.

We hope this wonderful opportunity will be embraced by all as our creative teams gear up to bring our beloved serials back to our daily lives.

Agnes Nixon.

I think I like this statement better:

agnes_nixon_01.jpg: It's true bitch.

Well, at least SuLu has the decency not to act as if every fan she meets is her boo from the 'hood. I don't know what I'd do if she was all, "'Sup, my nigga?".

I don't think anyone has doubted that Prospect Park is going forward, again.

Earl, are you new to this thread? :P

Re: SL, I've shared this before on here, but a friend of a friend dated SMG and he told my friend that SL was "such a bitch!" Gee, where did he get that from? #TeamLucci.

I met a girl who lived on the Island who knew Susan's son in their high school years. She'd been to their house and hung in their basement which she said was like a shrine to SL. This was pretty much "confirmed" to me some ten years later on 20/20 when Susan showed how Helmut "immortalized" her in their home (which she protested). The young lady I met also said that the kids were mostly raised by their housekeeper/nanny, whose name I always forget. But Susan mentioned her in her post-Emmy interview, i.e., someone she meant to thank but didn't in the heat of the moment.

I was gonna say--maybe I'm alone, but I did doubt it, Errol ;) And Agnes did release a statement last year as well, so I admit a part of me is still in damage control mode, but as someone else said on here, I'm also willing to see what they come up with. From what Corley said to me about the WGA deal (that he thought the online show simply would not be able to go forward without it), I assume they did come to some sort of understanding. And I am glad Agnes is involved--that gives me a lot of hope that at least they will try to do the best, creatively, they can in the situation and not just a completely unrecognizable reboot with the brand names.

I still think this will be free, with commercials, to online viewers--at least the day of, or something. PP has not always proven the smartest of companies (to say the least), but I think by now they must realize that for this to work--at least to get off the ground, it can't be only on a pay per view basis. We have been told it would be a 30 minue format with commercials--which I assume they wouldn't have if it was a pay thing. I hope their confirmation last year that it would be available to Canadians too (who of course do make up some chunk of the US soap opera viewing audience) sticks.

SFK that makes sense about Lucci--and honestly I'm not surprised given the work of the parents, that the kids were largely raised by staff.

Helmut Huber::Rene Angelil::Susan Lucci::Celine Dion.

True, but unless my math is off (and it probably is), he was pretty damn close. ;)

The daughter of one of my former coworkers dated Susan's son Andreas for a period when they were late teens/early 20s. She used to say that Liza Huber was the bitch, and not Susan.

I'm hoping for the best, but I don't see things being handled any differently than they did before.

Wait, so now you think they are NOT going forward? ;0

I can't seem to quote it, but Khan, that "statement" from Agnes made me laugh out loud harder than I have in a while.

As for Agnes' real statement, while I won't get my hopes up, that's the first time during this whole process that I thought maybe this 2nd attempt by PP might actually amount to something.

Still very skeptical though, as are all of you.

That is too funny! I never thought of it like that before... It doesn't seem like SL is a bitch per se, but more of a diva. It's a fine line. SL was raised in an affluent family, which continued when she married Helmet. I don't think she would scream and scratch in tantrum, but I think she has a definite way of letting her displeasure known.

Agnes has only confirmed that PP is attempting to bring back the shows. PP still has to prove that they can.

I think they're getting most things in place and a deal with WGA would cement that for me. The problem is that they shouldn't rush things. I know they want to be in production in February, but they need the BEST writing team in place, not just whoever will sign the soonest to get these shows up and running. They need to slow down a little I think.
