EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

If for whatever reason, Cartini had not been picked up by GH, and instead were charged with making OLTL's reboot successful, I wonder if they would fight ABCD to keep those characters or just give them up because GH is so glorious. And more deserving.

People just seem to ignore that ABCD cancelled OLTL and AMC in the first place. And in the case of OLTL they picked over the bones and took pieces they wanted to "keep alive" and threw the remaining carcass away. This all started because ABCD didn't value OLTL and AMC. And now I'm supposed to feel like ABCD is the injured party when somebody wants to take those shows and bring them to life and wants ALL the pieces, even after ABCD defined them as te only parts of OLTL "worthy" to live on. GMAFB.

IMHO, it's not about defending ABC. A decision has been made here and some of you are struggling with it. GH will retain the characters, and that is the bottom line. I will be the first to admit that GH had no argument here, but that does me no good at this time as both parties have come to an agreement.

The EP/HW should focus on the success of OLTL as a whole. The 3 are nothing in the grand scheme of things, so let's just keep it moving.

Tweets like these is why soaps are not taken seriously. Its a show. A great one but there are a lot worse things that happen. Need to stop over reacting

Samantha, I am ready to strangle you. Just because you are grounded because of your piss-poor decisions does not mean Tyrell needs to be dogged on like that. Grow up and get over yourself.
Dana is really laying it on thick with Laura. She cannot help herself, can she?
I appreciate Carlton being respectful of Nicole and her space, but it is also nice to see that he is not just disappearing altogether from her life.
Dana is slapping it on even thicker with insinuations of what she believes is happening with Vernon and Sharon and how nice Anita was to give her well wishes for Peaches. That is class personified.
It is so cute to see Carlton and Nicole reminisce on prior Winterfests. So cute. The chemistry is real there, and if it is not pursued as a romantic relationship, I am happy they have it as lifelong friends/co-workers.
I find it so cute how into Jessica Tyrell happens to be, and I appreciate that Bradley is open to hearing Tyrell's feelings and actually hearing them.
Good on you, Laura, for putting Dana on notice and standing up for yourself.
Not only do I appreciate that Eva is aware of her decisions (or lack thereof), but I appreciate Anita acknowledging the influence that Dana has had over her as well. There is growth there.

Now that makes sense. I do feel the Ronnie story only existed because of ES. You could take that entire story out and absolutely nothing change - except for Laura asking Martin to move out. Even that rift was healed the next time they were together (debate night). I kept wondering, who really cares who gets the Q Estate, compared to all the other stories that had been sidelined just to fit that in.

One Life to Live Tribute Thread

I just found out (from a reddit post) that Robin Strasser returns in February 1993. That soon. I can't believe my time with Elaine is ending. It's soooo disappointing to see her go after all she's done with and for the character. She WAS Dorian. Being center stage almost half of 1992 makes it hard to believe they are replacing her. The character grew so much - facing Blair and Addie/going back to her childhood/re-experiencing past trauma. I wish I could read an interview from that time to understand her feelings after leaving. If one even exists.
I've been watching the German 1980 episodes and enjoy RS's Dorian... A LOT... she does have a different energy. RS's Dorian feels more pretentious and self-absorbed (and a little bit adorable)... while EP's Dorian was darker, moodier, a bit like a broken bird... I like both. Of course a lot of these impressions are influenced by the writing for the character and not only the portrayal. I can't say which is better, but I connect more with EP's Dorian. Maybe I'll change my mind when I start watching RS in English. (I can't judge properly when it's dubbed over in German.)

The show is assembled from taped scenes out of order and the episodes recreated like a puzzle. So B and C stories, and ones not featuring pets or Frank’s personal favorites at that time, get dropped for weeks sometimes, or get shoehorned in as an afterthought. It did not used to be so obvious, and it is slightly better at times now. But it’s been a pattern for awhile now.
As has a bored Valentini interrupting the flow of stories and changing almost everything quickly, dropping months of plots/couples and often never returning to them. The fast pace they were running on when Rory arrived as the recast really covered the seams a lot too, but something changed with the Ronnie story and Britt return as far as momentum, so we are seeing more of the cracks in the way they assemble the show.
