HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Member

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

Uh its PP's job to advertise. Hulu will probably advertise but all they are doing is airing the shows once completed. Any production company producing a show advertises the HELL out of a show they are greenlighting. And every bit of shade PP is getting is deserved. I haven't heard one talk/entertainment show discuss the return of these shows. Not one. If so, post the clip here b/c I haven't seen it.

Does Sony promote Their soaps or the network? I don't know.

SONY does & HULU is doing most of the advertising. It was agreed to in the deal to air them. HULU wants this to succeed

Again, nothing has been produced yet. Just give it time.

In terms of promo, if they intend to release these shows in the spring, they should be promoting already. They could easily get a group of actors together to film promos teasing of what's to come. Something soapy, someone could be shooting a gun, you could have two people in bed and then say "Coming soon...All My Children." You could use past clips to throw a promo together or simply do short promos without the cast shown. I think they should be going for a summer launch at the rate they're promoting things. Then again, maybe since it's available on Hulu, they don't care about instant results in terms of ratings and streams.

Thank you, John and Chris B. happy.png

Debbi Morgan, Erika Slezak, etc could be hitting The Talk, The View, Good Morning America, The Today Show, Live with Kelly & Michael, Entertainment Tonight, etc.

But are they?

No.

These actors got all this free time till time starts, so utilize they a**es and get them started on the talk show circuit.

And on that note,

I rest my case. . .

Both. Sony promotes DAYS & Y&R on their websites and hits up major magazines when there is something major about to happen.

they own all the past clips put together a clip package of the actors they signed, air it during ABC daytime, during the ABC soaps in primetime like Revenge, have the actors go on the View or GMA, put some teasers on YouTube showing the sets being built, talking to the writers, do interviews with the soap magazines, they have done nothing

Damn why dont we just let them film & stop putting demands we have no right to in the first place. Some soap fans give all the soap fans a bad name

yes no need to advertise, they don't advertise primetime or movies months in advance, oh wait

Well they dont advertise Film until the film has at least something filmed & sometimes not until film is done & edited

There's nothing to promote yet and the average viewer (read: off liner) isn't going to give a damn about some show that won't air for months.

If these actors were going on talk shows what exactly are they supposed to talk about? The absolutely nothing they are doing right now? Watch any interview with somebody promoting a TV show or movie. The last thing that gets said is, "Show X airs Monday nights at 9:00 on ABC" or "Catch Movie Y when it opens on March 3." There's a call to action. PP doesn't have anything to give viewers who are interested and they sure as hell don't need to be wasting time and money putting together some fake ass generic promo just to satisfy the 100 crazy online soap fans who want MORE! NOW! AGAIN!

Starr yes. John no. Not as of OLTL ending. You just keep presuming that there is this huge overlap in viewership or that all OLTL viewers followed those three characters to GH. Not necessarily true.

But one can't ignore the fact that developments have been made in these characters' lives within the One Life to Live universe as seen on General Hospital. The OLTL finale doesn't exist in a vacuum. What we have here is no different than any other ABC daytime crossover in the past. All My Children didn't go into great detail about Angie's life in Corinth or Manhattan, but they didn't ignore the fact that Jacob and Cassandra were established there.

Frankly, I don't care where Starr, Todd, and John end up. Whatever is best for the actors and the shows. To those who say that they don't give a sh!t about the actors, these are human beings with job preferences just like the rest of us, not a trio of dancing !@#$%^&*]!ng circus bears for our amusement. Why would anyone want to see these actors be contractually strong-armed into working somewhere they didn't want to work for such selfish fanwanking reasons? If the creative people who are running and writing these shows are worth their salaries and positions, they can make this work.

BAM! Exactly! Promote what!?!?!!? Now maybe I could see/go for some ads/graphics popping up here or there simply stating AMC/OLTL are returning.....but who am I to say what should be done. And demanding the actors should be doing the talk show circuit....I certainly don't get that. As the self proclaimed Reigning Queen has stated ....WTF would they talk about??

Maybe they want to do a concentrated blitz in the weeks/month leading up to the show's premier? Maybe they don't want to shoot their load too soon and have people forget about it or not really care b/c it's still MONTHS off.

And it does deserve to be said that....comparing this to films, primetime and even promotions of other soaps is not really an accurate comparison. PP is treading new water ....maybe a new approach should be taken. Also are any of us Ad execs... part of a PR/Marketing team....hmm? Everybody with a marketing degree raise their hand.... ... ...

Yes. And so are the dozens of actors writers and crew going back to work on OLTL and AMC and relying on the success of those ventures for future employment. Easton, Howarth and Alderson being sidelined with pay for a few months (if that) while the details are worked out doesn't merit all the teeth gnashing and hand wringing on their behalf. I just can't muster enough f*cks.

Plus I am happy for them to remain at GH as new characters.
