HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Member

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

As long as they SORAS carefully, and don't mutilate the core of the show it should be fine. I just hope this actually comes off.

The British guy is propably working with Destiny on the Sugardaddy story.

Good Idea

I can't with AMC. I just can't. All these recasts and SORAS'es. It'll be nothing like it was before.

Good. It needs to be better. What it was before got it canceled.

There's a big difference between overhauling the show properly and stocking it with hardbodies who are over-aged. But both of you knew that, so the posturing is silly.

I am OK with the recasts. I told a few people they were going to recast Cassandra and they were like "Cassandra Who?". I even forgot about her since they never really mentioned her. Besides she was only their for about a year plus the actress who played her was pretty annoying.

I am glad they are recasting JR because I couldn't stand JY's interpretation of JR. JY is a good actor but I think his JR was too Whiny.

As for the SORAS...This is a soap regardless. Besides I really wouldn't want to wait YEARS for them to be in there teenage years.

A SORAS of AJ/Miranda to teens is stupid for reasons mentioned already. Now, to ages 10 or 11 would be fine. Kids that age can have a story.

Plus the fact that there were already legitimately teenage characters in the Pine Valley universe in the form of Petey, Colby, Damon, Asher, Maya, Cassandra, etc... there's no reason to SORAS AJ or Miranda and honestly I don't believe that's what's happening.

OLTL is going to woop AMC's ass.

No disrespect intended to you personally, but I find opinions like this kinda annoying on a personal level. Obviously they're holding out for some reason on making some more cast announcements, and while I think some guesses based on audition scripts are pretty likely right, we really don't know, nor even know if these scripts reflect directly any major storylines.

So his great new invention for BE is a Sugardaddy app? :P

I do think OLTL seems, from all we know, in much better shape at this point--a lot of familiar cast and characters, two much loved writers, one with huge connection to the show, etc, so I get where some of this is coming from. On the other hand, AMC did need some major overhaul character wise, and I'm even willing to give this HW (though I hope we still get the potential co-HW announcement) a chance since her crime seems to have been writing a soap, with someone else who's not here, that is infamous for having huge intereference from its owners, that people found boring. As long as some of the show is recognizable (and if used well Opal, and the Hubbards would do that for me--though I still am holding out for Brooke), and new characters are integrated, I actually welcome them trying the show in a fresher way.

But the endless comments from people after one leaked casting script info, for example, then chiming in "Well OLTL looks great, but this has caused me to decide I will never watch the new AMC", which we all know is never true anyway, just seems hysterical (in all senses of the word) to me.

In regards to SORAsing certain kids--if they do make them older teens, since it sounds like, for example, JR and Bianca will be recast, can't they castthem slightly older too? And wasn't JR (and Jamie) themselves rather quickly SORAsed from about 8 to 14, and then even quicker 17-18? Of course their parents (well at least Adam) seemed older, but I don'tremember it being that much of a shock.

And yeah, I had good things and bad things about both AMC and OLTL's final 3 months or so (though I prefered AMCs, but will grant OLTL had been in more stable shape for longer), but a part of me thinks if the argument is AMC is gonna be nothing like before, and OLTL is so OLTL is gonna be the much better soap--I sorta wish neither of them would be much like before. Recognizable *yes*, but...

Well PP needs to work on their mailing list for TOLN information. I got my e-mail from today about AMC/OLTL airing on Hulu...only five days after it happened.

That's what I was saying with Khan. There's a real tension between keeping the shows recognizable vs. making them fresh. We see people who swear up and down that Character X isn't needed then turn around and freak out at the mere thought of recasting Character Y and every new bit of information seems to rachet up the panic. At this point, I'd be perfectly fine if PP didn't release any more info.

There are plenty of actors who I'd like to see again **coughCorneilusSmithcough** but at the same time I don't and won't blame any of them one bit for passing on this and in that case, bring on the recast.
