HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Member

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

Just call Chris McKenna.

No second chances! One turn around!

It's Joey IMO. The "conman" part comes from Nelson Branco, not the casting call, so I have no reason to believe it just yet.

You know something? That casting breakdown does sound a lot like Joey Buchanan. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Frankly, I believe no "official" announcement for the new HW (or HW's) for ALL MY CHILDREN has been made, because no one really wants the job. Not even with Agnes Nixon back on-board...and ABCD and Brian Frons not.

This is why it won't be long term, it'll probably be just to get it started, maybe a month, then they'll head back to GH

Same, dragonflies. :)

I hope the casting call is for Joey. I really want to see him as a leading man on the show. Kevin and CJ also.

I think it's more like they're busy doing ding dong ditch at Marlene McPherson's house and calling at 3 AM, breathing heavily and hanging up in a Paranormal Activity-esque campaign of terror until she agrees to their lowball contract. Good old Prospect Park.

Questions for everyone:

Besides those that are signed on. . .

- What should be the cast size number?

- What characters or actors should be on the reboots?

20 contract cast members

Viki, Clint, Dorian,Todd, Kevin, CJ, Joey, Blair, Tea, nuDani, nuJack, Natalie, nuJessica, Brody, , Bo, Matthew, Destiny,a younger female that would be a blank slate, Cutter

What stories I wish would play out

An equal Dani/Matthew/Destiny triangle

Jessica/Brody/Natalie

Kevin/Tea pairing

Recurring, maybe 2 younger characters that could be blank slates, Rama, Vimal, Roxy, Shaun, 2 new AA characters for diversity (maybe one of them could be paired with CJ)

I guess Nora could be recurring. I can't stand her ass but she is connected to Matthew and Bo

On AMC, my guess is that Sally Sussman will be involved with AMC. She's friends with McPherson. Sally launched Generations and worked on Y&R. Oddly, ABC has never employed Sussman but I think she'd be a great fit at AMC.

I wonder if the fact that OLTL won't be on tv will help them try and push the limits a little more

Forgive me, but I often find myself more excited about the new additions to the casts when I'm reminded of the teens through early thirties rosters of both shows. I want new stuff. I like Natalie, Brody, (the idea of) Jessica, and others, but I'm a little weary of the same old same old beat to death triangles. I'm not saying ignore history, but the many months away from Llanview and Pine Valley are a storytelling blessing. Your life can change in a day let alone a year and while I'm not saying that they should ignore history, so many more new and interesting developments can be established that could start these shows off with intriguing and unexpected bangs.

Just to be clear, I've been in contact with ABC on this current matter and I'm still waiting for the official ABC comment. They just better not say "no comment" or else I'll be one angry bastard, although it does seem to be an actual comment at this rate. Will let you know.

thanks, so what is your guess are the actors off GH for good

Sweet Jesus, but that's funny as hell.

But seriously, the more I think about the possibility of AMC 2.0, the more I ask myself, "Is it really worth the reboot?". Even with all the resurrections that happened at the end under Project Walking Dead (tm...marceline, I think?), I still felt as if a crucial amount of the show's core had vanished. I mean, my God, we're even talking now about the possibility of an AMC without Susan Lucci; and while I know she isn't everyone's favorite actress, I don't know whether AMC could survive without the actor who had been, for many years, its biggest draw. And most everyone else that we'd love to see on the new series (which, I have noticed, does not include much of AMC's last contract cast roster) have either dead, retired, moved away, or moved onto other projects.

I won't say AMC 2.0, if it happens, will be a failure. But I think it will take a tremendous amount of work, building a new generation of characters through the few established ones that will end up on the show; and even then, there are no guarantees.

It was hardly GL or ATWT at the end, Khan, get a grip.

I do think it borders on suicidal to attempt to mount the show without Susan Lucci.
