Hmm...I've always found it interesting how some television viewers (whom aren't limited to this show or this board, FYI) have zero problem blasting a show/writers/producers over the merest hint of misogyny or homophobia, yet will go above and beyond to either avoid any acknowledgment of racism or declare that any perception of such (no matter how blatant) is imaginary.

I'm one of the very few who didn't believe NL stunk to high heaven. Emmy worthy? Hell no, but she was sufficient. That said, Diego became my 2nd favorite character for strangling that dry bitch, Em!

I didn't think she was as horrible as online people made her out to be( to be fair once they paired Emily with Nick the prick and made her a saint she was ruined character) however award worthy no. She seems to have found her calling a producer now though. Her PBS documentary was good and I heard she;s working on a show for National Geographic.

Posters will accuse each other of being homophobic and racist, but when it comes down to accusing the actors, they'll fight like heck to defend their favorites, no matter what an actor or actress has said.

It's no secret that I'm a huge LW fan, but I deal with facts, especially in instances such as this. What's being posted does not jive at all.

I actually had the Melissa Reeves situation in my mind. LOL.

Not per my observation. In addition to seeing folks defend their favorite actor/character in spite of blatant evidence to the contrary, folks will spend as much energy in finding ways/reasons to justify (if, not defend) the racist characterization/direction of a show and treatment of certain characters.

Oh, I' not sure who you were talking about, but I agree with you 100%. My LW response was to one of the Quartermaine posters. I get them confused.

You know I love all of these actors dearly, and at the end of the day, they're entitled to an opinion just like you and I, whether we agree with it or not. If an actor is racist or homophobic, that's their choice & belief, and it's none of our business.

For me, the problem is that we haven't seen enough of Shawn and Alexis on-screen, together and as a certified couple, to be so invested in this development. These days, soaps are just too damn quick to send people off to bed (or the living room couch).

I'll take your word for it re: Shawn & Alexis, as I haven't seen them interacting at all to weigh in on their relationship (or lack thereof).

That said, I definitely agree about soaps being far too quick to pair characters together, as I consider it to be a symptom of the fast-food attention span of the audience that they've been catering to since 2000.

What PBS documentary?

I don't love all. Far from it. However, to make certain accusations, you have to support it.

I agree. Of course I'm grateful for the little Shawn and Alexis we got because it was garbage from the word go, but the "writers" today need to understand that the audience fell for the couples of yesteryear because of the time and commitment put into them. The obstacles they faced and the longing to be together. That is all but gone. The only obstacles today is that the other woman is pregnant. There is nothing organic anymore (except for Tarly tongue.png).

I do wonder if the instant-true-love-couplings of this century are motivated by the reality of soaps dropping like flies or because writers/EPs are too lazy to even bother developing them.
