I've been avoiding this topic like the plague, because I wanted to wait until I'd seen the episode. Here are my thoughts.

Yes, it was a beautiful episode. Truly, a wonderful tribute. But it fell a little flat for me. I'm sorry, but I want to see a funeral.

First, was I the only one who noticed that in the flashback of Tracy talking to Edward that BrookLynn, Lucky and Siobhan's faces were blurred out in the background?! What was up with that? And it wasn't just the effect where they blur out the entire background, but rather the background was clear as day and just their faces were blurred out. WTF?

It was absolutely wonderful to see Skye and Ned again. RC is as beautiful as ever. The little girl playing LilaRae wasn't cute, but that's okay.

Y'all are crazy. I thought it was so beautiful and very sweet that Skye introduced Monica as Lila Rae's grandmother. Monica just lost her son AND her father in law, and literally has no one left...I thought what Skye said was very kind and I'm glad that Monica wanted Skye to stay.

There should have been more returns. No mention of Maya, Keesha, Jimmy Lee. Brook is on tour and Lois is with her?Dillon is filming a movie? REALLY, in the real world, someone wouldn't catch a flight if their grandfather died? I mean come ON! Ridiculous!

And aside from family, where were people like Gail, Lee, Brenda, Lucy? All of them loved Edward and, again, in the real world, would have been there.

We saw Monica receiving flowers and placing them on the mantle with a plethora of other flowers/cards...Who were they from? If we weren't getting to see people, it would have been nice to say "Oh, these beautiful flowers from Gail and Lee" or "I got the sweetest card from Brenda".

I liked seeing Heather, and I liked that she interacted with Skye.

Another thing was the flashbacks...What a random set of flashbacks!! They were all sweet, but there wasn't very many iconic Edward moment in there! We should have scene Tracy withholding the medication, without seeing Edward's face. That is a defining moment.

The ending was beautiful and I really, really liked it. Though I agree with Cheap that I felt like it was a 30 something in Lila's nightgown with that crooked weave!

All in all, it was a wonderful episode. I liked the interactions and the tribute, but to me it felt more like something that should have lead to a funeral episode where we saw lots more people return.

Side note - I'm hoping the secret is something big. But I feel like Heather may have switched the will, and she'll hold onto the secret for a bit longer. My bet is that Edward has Alan alive somewhere and he left that info in his will so that Alan (who is probably in a coma or some such situation) could be cared for now that Edward is gone.

I think that they have to pay the actor when they show the footage (Which is DUMB considering the show should own the footage....They filmed it while those actors were contracted to the network, so they should own it.) If they were too cheap to pay, then SHAME on them. If the actors refused to let their images be shown then SHAME on them!

SIDE note, why was there not a SINGLE Emily/Edward flashback? I don't care if it was Amber or Natalia, one of them should have been shown.

ANOTHER side note, why weren't Alan and Emily waiting at the top of the stairs for Edward and Lila?

Was not on point at ALL! Lila's bun was always firmly and SECURELY on the back, top of her head. This heffa's wig was falling to the right and not even bunned up!

Actors get residuals

Take that back! I better get my checks for $1.57 every time they air reruns of the show I was on! :P They may own the show, but they don't own my image. These shows make a lot of money, more than the actors will ever see, so they deserve to get paid. Constnce McCashin infamously did not let Knots use her image in the reunion projects.

As an actor, I feel that if solely and actors IMAGE (picture) is being used, then the actor should get paid. But if I film the footage footage while contracted to a network, they own that piece of film and I don't expect a thing for it.

Come on, this legendary soap actor died in real life, and they gonna make a fuss over a couple dollars in residuals?

Shame.

I don't know soap opera AFTRA rules on residuals, but even in primetime if you made $1,000 for a guest spot, the residuals are so low. Say 15 cast members appear in an episode of AMC, many of whom aren't making Lucci money. You could probably pay all 15 of them their residuals for under a hundred bucks (and I think I'm being generous), Lucci getting the lion's share of that.

    • Randy (Doug's friend who works for Joey) -- Joey told Randy weeks ago that Joey's plan was to get Doug into so much debt that Doug would be forced to get Vanessa's real estate holding turned over to Joey, to use for money-laundering.  That's been the plan all along, which the viewers knew.  The only thing new is that Joey finally told Doug this. I think Joey is written badly.  I also think Jon Lindstrom is doing "Now I am going to act menacing".   But I don't really feel the menace.  It's too overdramatic and it doesn't feel like a real person.  Jon is a fine actor on GH, so I don't know what's happening here -- the entire BTG mobster premise is badly designed/written.  I don't know if Guza pushed for a mobster storyline?  Or did Jon?  (Jon wrote a novel about Hollywood mobsters). It just doesn't fit.  It feels (to me) like this storyline for Jon was just shoved onto the canvas but it doesn't fit all all. Monday's scene of Mona coming into the "casino" to check up on where Leslie supposedly lost money in the slot machines -- and Randy explaining to Mona that there are no slot machines, there is nothing but the card room.  I had to laugh because they had characters comment that it's just a card room and not a casino -- the show is now acknowledging that there's nothing there.  If they are going to do this, then have it make sense for Fairmont Crest residents to visit a high-end glamourous casino, and not a random room with one table. So what money is Joey laundering? A while back, Joey told Vanessa that he knows about her sexual philandering because owns the escort service that she'd been using. But I don't care...  I'd just prefer that the entire mobster storyline go away.
    • I caught up this past weekend. The show is better written, but I have been bored with the show. I did notice it ranked in the top 5 again this week, so that's a good sign.
    • I can't take this show seriously. I truly miss WJB writing this show. Bradley didn't inherit his dad's talent.
    • Maybe if there had been a good close up or two
    • I haven't had a chance to view the interview, but I'm glad Mike didn't get the part of Derek.  Derek is a badly written character. Any Ben Gavin screenshot from yesterday's show?
    • Wait, what? So, Martin’s not running for President anymore? Just like that?  I didn’t expect this storyline to be long term but I would’ve liked to see it play out for a little while longer, or at least until Martin’s secret was revealed. And definitely not fade out with a whimper. Sort of like Naomi’s lawsuit against Bill’s firm; what was the point of it all if it was just gonna wrapped up so easily and (probably) forgotten about?  Eva is still the breakout character though. I’m looking forward to seeing where she goes from here with everyone, especially if the twist that we’re all suspecting turns out to be true.  And I did find the gambling storyline interesting finally, now that we know Joey’s endgame. I’d like to see it play out and to see what happens to everybody involved in it.  As for Derek/Ashley… I wonder how it would’ve played out if they actually had cast Mike Manning as Derek. Yeah, the writing isn’t there but I imagine that Derek would have more of a personality lol and I also imagine that it would’ve made Ron Carlivati’s head explode
