Characters that we gone too long and should've been on canvas

GL, Amanda Spaulding & Trish Lewis were gone far too long. Trish could have easily worked in the 90's especially with Alan-Michael on the canvas.

Reading between the lines in interviews with PP, it seems to me that this is the story that Days and PP put out at the time (ie she didn't want to play the baby material while pregnant herself), but I suspect this is one of many issues PP was dealing with at the time. I don't think she was physically or emotionally prepared to play Kim anymore and perhaps both parties decided she should take a break and do a temp recast ala Kirsten Storms/Jen Lilley. When she came back, she still wasn't in the right place and Days had no other option but to part ways with her.

I don't know, because I don't think the story about the 1990 departure over the pregnancy storyline came out until after she had left for the final time. And I think she told the story about that storyline in the interview she gave We Love Soaps in 2010. She said she regretted doing the storyline about losing the baby when she was pregnant the first time and was older and wiser during her second pregnancy, and did not want to have that trauma so she refused to do the storyline and they fired her. (Here's a link to the article: http://www.welovesoaps.net/2010/01/wls-interview-archive-patsy-pease.html. I think she talks about it in part 3.)

Also, she says that her attempt to come back to the show was complicated by the difficulties with her son. He was born with a serious physical ailment and went through a lot of surgeries as a young child.

Tina Lord. I cant believe 11-12 years were there between appearances. I think she could have been recasted with Cynthia Preston or Rebecca Staab

CJ and Cord Roberts. Basically I hate how the Roberts family was written out and never came back full force on the show

Speaking of CJ, I never understood why his cousin never made his way back to Llaniew...._.Danny Wolek. He had strong ties to two original core families.

You are probably right then. I haven't read anything about her in a very long time and I am not clear on the facts anymore. I just remember being left with that impression after reading some stuff awhile back. I certainly could have misinterepted it. Regardless, it seems she was no longer able to commit to Days, but it is a shame they only trot her out for funerals and never cast her children.

She worked at Jabot & briefly had a relationship with John (an old friend).

Gina hates her (and Lauren) for ruining her wedding to Neil.

Oh ok, I remember reading about the Gina stuff in the anniversary book. Joanna is a good character that could have been around long or even on B&B

I would've much preferred Joanna as a recurring character than Gloria these past few years. Susan Hayes ate Judith Chapman's ass up with every one of her returns in recent years. I also agree with DeeeDee's choice of Olivia and Nate.

Olivia and Nate are needed and I preferred Olivia over any of Neil's post-Dru interest.

I think a big issue is how the show has failed to create compelling longterm black characters. 20 years later and Neil, Malcolm, Dru and Olivia are still the most significant ones. The show should have done a better job at expanding beyond them bc there is quite a void between them and their kids. But I digress and I guess that's gone off topic

She even shined during her one day appearance on Jill's behalf in court a couple of years ago.

As Chris said Y&R should dump Gloria & bring back Joanna & Flo (since Y&R keeps trying to make Ronan happen).
