The parts that got me were the photo of Amy and Rory with the baby, and then the look on Brian's face when he realizes the man in front of him is his grandson. In some ways I think this was actually better not being filmed, as the storyboards and Darvill's voiceover are very moving. I'm also glad we got some closure for Rory and his story, which we didn't get in the episode. The River issue is still sort of unresolved but other than that I feel like we can say goodbye now, which I needed to do.

I'm somewhat surprised River will be back...I wonder if this will be the last time. If she meets Clara, and Clara is Oswin (I'm hoping she's not, and is just a relative), the Doctor will be in some sort of meta angst hell, since he first met both when they died.

If you haven't seen it yet you should check out the last DWM companion to the Sarah Jane Adventures. They go into some details about the stories that were never told, have an unpublished interview with Lis Sladen from 1993, and talk a little about story ideas that were considered when they knew she was sick but hoped she might be able to do a voiceover or a short appearance (one they had decided on was an animated special, set in DC, with Alan and Maria Jackson appearing).

Children in Need will have a Who prequel this year.

I'm not surprised River is back. I figured she would be around at least until shortly before Smith and Moffat left, whenever that may be. Matt is signed through at least 2014, I believe, and I think it's confirmed he is doing Series 8, though I don't know whether that airs in fall 2013 or early '14. They never gave her a goodbye in TATM, so I knew she'd be around. Lots left to do.

I would cry if they did another tie-in with the SJA kids sometime during the anniversary. Have Luke, Clyde and Maria (or Rani, or whoever that little girl was they added in the last series I haven't watched) pop up to help the Doctor.

I just took that scene where she says she's a professor now as sort of a goodbye, although I do think there is still material left to mine (especially if they get away from her talking about being too old and damaged and so on). Matt Smith and Alex Kingston have such fantastic chemistry together. From the first scene they had when she flew into the TARDIS (which was one of the first scenes he filmed), they've had chemistry.

Could you believe that at a bookstore yesterday I saw a display of Doctor Who keychains, shirts, games, mini-action figures, mugs, magnets, talking plushies, toys, etc. etc. I never imagined I'd see something like that in the US. Perhaps they have before and I've just missed it. I knew the show was BBC America's biggest show but I'd never seen marketing like that - usually all I see is the magazine on the rack and a few DVDs for sale in the DVD section.

Yay, new console room! Apparently this was because they moved the set. I liked the old one but it will always remind me of Rory and Amy so I'm happy for a new start. I loved when Tom Baker had two console rooms. I just wish this meant that Matt Smith was staying for a good while longer.

    • Looking at those totals it seems most contract actors are on a 1 or 2 week average guarantee. I assume contracts are still operating on 13 week cycles so you would have to know the particular actors contract starting date to work out their guarantee. The question remains as to what actors listed as contract are actually recurring? Bryton ?
    • Yep, that scene was at the conclusion of the Derek Thurston vs George Packard storyline, when Kay decided neither of them should run Chancellor.  By the time she put Victor in charge, Victor had been on the show for months & months with his Rolls Royce, his ranch, and Newman Enterprises.  SONY released some Y&R "trivia cards" in the late 1980s, and one of the questions was "who brought Victor Newman to Genoa City?" The answer on the back of the card is "Kay Thurston, to run Chancellor Industries", and it's a wrong answer lol.
    • I think someone said it did exist, but I can't remember.
    • The bit with the scarf reminds me of the fabled stuffed animal scene with Rick and Phillip. (That wasn't debunked, was it?)
    • Ohh, interesting. I instantly gravitated towards her in that episode. Of course I'm already hooked and want to know why she was trying to poison that older lady, but then how did the older lady know to switch the mugs so Susan drank her own poison...  but I have too many timelines I'm watching right now haha.  Oh, Bolger is definitely hot. I didn't realize he was on GL haha. I knew him from OLTL and other primetime stuff.
    • This is a effin shame. Eff Trump and eff the bastards that enable him.
    • I 100% agree but I think this is due to how the show is structured. It's a one family show which means there are no people in her age range that could be used as friends or contemporaries of her. The show definitely needs a second main family. I am glad someone finally said this. Especially now that the cast is gelling in their roles, he stands out like a sore thumb. No energy, no chemistry with anybody. He is just there.  I thought that was odd as well! The previous scene would've worked better as a tag for the credits.
    • That's the one and only Carrie Nye (Mrs. Dick Cavett) as Susan Piper, a deadly realtor. I don't want to spoil a lot if you ever want to see those episodes. She returns as another character in 2003. I think Grant has aged well and he always did a good job at being ripped without going too far, but he was never entirely my cup of tea either. I did think John Bolger was hot.
    • Totally agree. KKL looks great! It makes the Widge groveling so bizarre. Brooke needs to leave FC and with $B's/Liam's funding launch a rival fashion house with Hope, Rick, Katie and a secret designer. The best scenario is that Rick has been absent because he's been with very much alive C2, who is revealed on the runway as the secret designer. It'll never happen because B&B is comfortable just focusing on FC and the Forresters Marones v. Logans. But it'd been so much more interesting if the Spencers/Logans united.
